In my area, 95% of the time, the plaster guys use a hammer and a chisel to knock off any loose plaster. They leave as much of the old plaster intact as possible to reduce the amount of material cost. They go around tapping on the plaster and listening for hollow spots where the plaster has delaminated. They charge a whole bunch of money for this job. In my opinion, they charge the same as if they were to remove all the plaster, meaning they make way more money when they leave a bunch of old plaster intact. Generally speaking, the customer is uneducated, and the contractors act like they speak poor English. They act like it's all normal, but what they are doing is robbing the customer. Pool guys understand this too, but the customer only goes for the cheapest bid, so if they don't bid cheap, they won't get the job. If you were to communicate the truth as a pool guy, no way will you get the job, so everyone just walks around in la la land until shit hits the fan and then the finger pointing starts. I myself have no patience for this nonsense. Now, how do I buy one of those blast rigs and sign up to do all of your plaster demo jobs. I want to do things right while simultaneously making good money. Tell me how to make this happen. Location is sout central Texas.

I appreciate you sharing your expertise here! I’ve read elsewhere that Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are effective for routine cleanings. Do you see any cause for concern that these could cause long-term damage or unwanted outcomes? Thank you!

Cooool, we’re doing chip outs about twice a week here near Orlando. The only thing I’d be worried about is the pressure pump needing replaced all the time on that thing, we go through pressure washer pumps all the time and they’re about $200-300 every time one burns up.

It depends on the kind of plaster. Not all plaster are really meant to be polished. From my knowledge, only primera stone is actually supposed to be polished.

Or you could burn the old pool surface with acid to remove the oils and stains and than paint the pool with bondkote a cement coating that will allow the new plaster to bond with the old and adhere to the pool save yourself a lot of work
