That could work very well on a large drill press with a shorter rod. a place to bolt it down on the table, clamp the lid on, and added power of the press. That would be the cat’s arse, for grinding.

Seems to work weld a couple of metal bars like they use on fencing or rebar in a square shape around it. Then drop the bucket with square welded pieces of rebar into a square shape and it won't spin done deal

That's a fantastic idea! After perusing the various fab and angle grinder pseudo impact mill constructions, I came back to your cup wheel idea and think it'll do the job for my needs. I'm trying to flake and powderize anthracite for much different purposes but on a backyard DIY budget. I have a few 'previously projected' stock pots, though I think I'm going to go old pressure cooker pot that at one time turned into a pressure vessel for degassing for the thicker walls and the gasket. Just wanted to come back and definitely add a kudos for the idea! 👍

Great idea using a grinder wheel. Pour yourself a slab using the stainless to make a hole and embed a few hooks or latches to secure the lid. I see crap flying everywhere and it's killing me. That will also protect you incase a stone rips through the side of the stainless which one eventually will. As for using a shorter threaded rod I don't agree. I'd say maybe a black steel pipe with grease inside or something similar to support the bending/flexing. You don't want to be leaning over doing this all the time with a shorter shaft. There has to be some sort of bolt on flange out there to solve the nut binding issue. I was using a think stainless pestle with a pipe stuff in it and another pipe with a welded end as a ram rod but the pestle had a blow out today so looking for an alternative. Might try this. Thanks

@@AUMINER1 We really appreciate that you were following along. To answer your ?... basically life gets in the way sometimes. I ended up needing shoulder replacment surgery. First surgery didn't help at all... along with a long recovery. So was set up for a 2nd one and covid put that surgery off for a long time. Aug. 31st had my 2nd surgery and now I am finally able to lift my arm over my head and keep it there. Haven't been able to do that in about 12 years. As for all that equip. It kinda got split up and sold off. Mac up north CA has the rock crusher. The last I heard he refurbished it. Mac is still going strong mining, dredging and working alongside the great guys at AMRA. I missed the last event due to to many October Family B-days. Miss mining but had to take the break. Hope to get this shoulder stronger and get back at it I some fashion. Kind of hard to justify the trips if have to take up northern CA with fuel as it is nowadays. That's about it for now. I kinda feel a bit to blame for us slowing our roll like we did but like I said life got in the way. Lol Later Buddy

This works great for Hard but Granular Rock like Quartz, but not so good for Shale, Schist or Dense Sandstone. It does work but takes forever and the Nut tends to hang up on the Rocks in the Middle causing the bit to spin without cutting.
