So glad to hear Mr Rowland say 614 is likely gonna run in my home state. That Buckingham branch line is my home line and I rode the 611 last year on the line. I hope to see the C&O 614 run on the Piedmont subdivision aswell maybe to Richmond.

C&O 614 actually did run on the Buckingham branch once during its second revival and that time was when she was being ferried over the line to travel to and Huntington West Virginia for the ACE 3000 Project in January of 1985 but I’m glad as well that she might be restored again to run!

We see the loose usage of the term rebuild to this day. In California, which has some very strict laws relating to building new homes on the beach side of Pacific Coast Highway, you in effect can't build a new house. So what is done, well they apply for a renovation permit. They then tear down most of the existing house and build a much bigger home, attached to the remaining building. Then a couple of years later, they apply for yet another renovation permit, tear down the rest of the old building and complete building the rest of the new house.

I was privileged as young man to participate in it's break in runs on the Winchester and Western in the late eighty's. At the time Working beside Bill Benson, Ross Rolling, Norman Stanley, it really didn't sink in until later years the opportunity I had. (Opportunity is wasted on the youth) ( I think I remember Normans name correctly). At the time I was a fireman on a 1925 built Baldwin 2-6-2 in Hartwell Ga, (oil burner ) and our engineer and crew chief, Robert Franzen Jr, called me one afternoon and said, hey, you wanna go to Maryland and work on a T1? Lol. We left that evening! Also remember it was on an Easter weekend. Good times.

I really like the video setting! The bright lighting brings what might normally be dingy to life! The area looks like people are taking care in what they are doing. Thanks covering the Anthracite question. If it's a PA steam locomotive the question Ito me is if it was made to burn that special Pennsylvania coal anthracite noted to be smokeless. The speaker stated it was, but it does steam even better with bituminous coal!. I keep waiting for a steam locomotive that has gone the next conversion step to run on compressed natural gas. That would likely require a tanker car for the fuel. There would be no harmful emissions unlike burning home heating oil that does have a smell and is considered hazardous waste if spilled. It might be possible to get subsidies from natural gas companies promoting its clean altnetatitve. Greenhouse gases can't cause global warming because all the greenhouse radiant energy is completely absorbed by greenhouse gases in earth's greenhouse effect within 20 meters of the radiating surface, typically the earth. That is high school science and the United Nation's IPCC states in the back of its 200 page science report it took its greenhouse gas samples at 20,000 meters altitude. That is legal data transparency to mean it is not discussing active greenhouse gases. They have informed the interested reader they are not actually dealing with greenhouse gases in a manor related to global warming.

The 2101 was as authentic an artifact as any exhibit on the American Freedom Train. She should have been presented as Reading 2101 decked with flags and bunting in accordance with protocol. At least they got rid of the terrible paint scheme that it had when it left Baltimore.

We moved the U.P. 4017 BIG BOY in April 1987 at the NRRM in GBW, with a CNW GP7, but 4017 derailed the 4 middle drivers next to the middle cylinders on the fireman's side-left-South, in front of the McCormick Pavillion. And 4017 was painted with bright 🌞 YELLOW primer paint 🎨 💛!!! 4017 was being moved over old light rails and old crossties. Then CNW returned in 5 days to help re-rail with 2 of the GP7'S and a 50 foot gondola as a spacer. Finally after nearly 3 hours of Intense labor by using wooden blocking 4017 was back on top!! This story was in both local newspapers 📰 in Press GAZETTE and News Chronicle. 4017 was shoved backwards 500 feet away to the new display track but built Outside the north wall of the Pavillion and 4017 was finally painted black and silver. But only 2 years later after exposure to severe Wisconsin Winters the paint was ruined and their plans wanted to build a new roof extension over the track that also had DMIR 506 2-10-2; And Milwaukee road 261 4-8-4 Northern. But not until 2001 was the newest building constructed when 4017 was shoved on the new track 2 then parked next to the British A4 60008 Eisenhower, and Prr 4690 GG1 ELECTRIC that was ironically traded to Your Baltimore rr museum in trade for the old F.M. H-10-44 1201from Milwaukee Road And the old WICT SHORTLINE. Because NRRM got 2 of the H1044 switchers with 1200 running then repainted as 767 to represent the old G.B. Alley track on the East shore of the Fox River and running through the famous H.C. PRANGE DEPARTMENT STORE 🏬 and over the East River to the many paper factories. But F.M. 767 broke down with some kind of wheel problems but the NRRM won't say Why because the manager from 1993 was rude and got fired in 1996, but leaving behind a lot of misinformation that caused confusion and errors....but since 1996 there have been 10 different managers but changed nearly every 3 to 6 years!! Each new manager arrives with New Plans that get Canceled....and also ripping apart the plans from previous managers. These changes even affected the H.O. Scale model rr club that built their layout in the HOOD Junction Station since 1989....SADLY the Club was Forcefully Evicted and Terminated in 2008 because that Mgr in 2008 wanted to built the children's discovery depot, Then he was also fired in 2008!! These actions also Terminated the N.R.H.S. Local Northwoods chapter. The loyal volunteers restoring the narrow guage SHAY 5 were also removed....but Shay 5 pieces are just scattered haphazardly around the museum site. But the live steamers club was trying to rebuild the mini 20th century Ltd 4-6-4 Hudson, but they were physically chased put the front gate!!!!! GBW 315 ALCO C430 was donated in July 1987 with new red paint....but sitting outside for the past 37 years has turned 315 into an ugly rusted eyesore!!!!! AND MANY OTHER PIECES!!!!! Thus even the NRRM in GBW desperately needs help please!!!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND ASSISTANCE 🙏 😊!!!!! ..GOD BLESS ✝️ 🙌 AMERICA 🇺🇸 ❤ 💙!!!!! OK.TH.NOV.30.2023A.D.

It was not in a "siding" in Washington. It was stored in poor shape at the end of the line of an industrial spur. Yes is arrived as a running locomotive but it was not in great shape when I had seen her. Richland was actually a great spot to store it too as the weather in SE Washington St is very dry and hot with mild winters unlike western Washington where there's a lot of rain and trees to drop stuff onto and in the locomotive to rust. When she was on BNSF's main line coming over Stampede Pass she had a hot box under the locomotive. I can't remember if it was a lead truck or trailing truck bearing but it caused a problem and there was a delay which did not endear them to BNSF.
@nicholasuszko

Hotbox is a maintenance issue, not a ASR issue. Anything that weighsthat on the car could cause that. So BNSF is being pedantic.

I remember climbing up on the 2100 in Richland, WA the very last time she was under steam. It was a hot mess to be kind. Water was pouring out of mud sheet by the gallon as there was a lot of rust pulling apart the bucked rivets. I'm glad that people who wanted to save it were able to get it and have the ability and funding to save her.
