I don't remember hearing about this game when I was growing up (born in 81). I don't think I was aware of the Dragon Quest franchise until sometime in the 2000's. I remember seeing the art style with the weird always crossed-eyed characters and I've avoided the series because of that. Maybe I'll try the original one day... Great episode guys!

Thanks for the support! Yes, that chibi art just make the later games(and others that use it) feel more like... a babies toy (*insert BTTF clip here*). I think they made the right move going form Dragon Quest to Dragon Warrior when they moved it to the US. If you do go back, the first few are fantastic. I can't speak much on the later installments, I just haven't played them, RPGs are an investment of time.

Great lists guys! We are going to have several picks in common. Also, personal favorites definitely influenced my list - I couldn't help myself! 1. Take On Me - Aha This song is the sound of the 80s. Also - best music video ever in this era of the music video. 2. Separate Ways - Journey While I agree with you guys that Journey's doesn't usually scream 80s, listen to this intro and tell me this doesn't belong 3. Your Love - The Outfield Great 80s Britpop song. I kinda feel wrong listening to these lyrics but this song hooks me from the opening riff! 4. Livin' on a Prayer - Bon Jovi Great intro, soaring chorus with 80s optimism 5. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper - This song is just pure fun and reflects the carefree vibe of the 80s. Also Cyndi>Madonna Honorable mentions: Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper Every Breath You Take - The Police Beat It - Michael Jackson

You are 100% right on Journey, that is a fantastic 80s song! I completely forgot about Your Love, another great song. Every song is like a new "Number one favorite", Its near impossible to rank just a top 5! These are some fantastic picks and just further proves the 80s were a musical revolution

Well KZfaq recommended this to me knowing I love the mask! And well hmm I liked the majestic, not many know that one these days , but I can't say it's above the mask, Bruce Almighty is up there but nah. Ohh! The Grinch. The Grinch might be better than the mask. Like they are fighting for the number 1 spot in my mind

John Locke was my favorite character and I hated what the writers did with him. Ryan, I agree with your retconning of Locke, that would have been much better! I loved the show, especially in the beginning but it did start to really frustrate me as it went on. I remember being disappointed when certain mysteries were explained and even more disappointed when others were never explained at all. I remember back when I watched the show and something new would be introduced, like a statue with four toes, and thinking "they're never going to explain this". That being said the show had alot going on for it. It's like a really long episode of The Twilight Zone, which is my favorite show ever. Great episode guys!

For the sheer absurdity of it, I'm casting Cory Feldman as ... The Mummy! But I want him to play him totally off character. Imagine the volatile, angst filled character of Feldman's Teddy DuChamp from Stand by Me. That I would pay to see. Side note: while I don't like when directors go back and add new characters and scenes to old films, I'm all for going back and redoing bad CGI. This CGI was bad even for it's time. Go back and look at The Abyss, those water effects still look pretty good today and that was in 1989! Great job as always guys! Love the podcast!

Not that I'm aware of. I think Chevy was only on the first season in the late 70s, then he upset too many people and like my 3rd boss, "Found employment elsewhere". Eddie didn't join until the 80s, around season 5 or 6 I believe.
