If I have no communication with TCM and ECM does replacing this cause the the scanner to be able to communicate again? Also, if it doesn’t, I can’t do this replacement because I’ll have to clear the codes right?

@@Mechani_Cole thanks for the reply. It was done at a shop so I have no clue which scanner they used. My car is stuck in limp mode after getting front cv axels repaired it was already saying no communication prior to the limp mode. It has been stuck for almost 6 months now. Should I purchase my own scanner?

So when I bought me VW. It started misfiring on on cold start but then would be good. But it was a very rough idle. I was told by many mechanics to replace this part and that part and may be that part. I’m very mechanically inclined myself. I finally got to this camshaft magnet. And it was like the last sensor type part that I had t replaced yet. I took it off and noticed it wasn’t moving back it forth well. So I cleaned it out with brake clean and it would fix it for a little while but then would get bad. So to make a long story short, it was this camshaft magnet that needed to replace all along. And now 250k more miles later. I’ve never had another problem like that. Other than having to do intake carbon cleanings to keep from getting misfires

Extremely helpful! Thank you! A small issue, why so adamant that the pins need to to be swapped for each head? You've used the lock tool in the exact same way on both sides - at 14:06 and 40:48 - makes sense to me, as the cam bolts are all right hand thread, no matter which angle you approach them! The pins will obviously have to be swapped when changing from loosening to tightening the cam bolts.

I have one 2008 a4 with the cvt multitronic transmission and is giving me the code P0706. Its says the transmission range sensor. Lights are flashing in the dash like yours. Random question but what’s ur method of jacking it so high. My B7 doesn’t have room to both jack from the pinch weld and place a jack stand. There isn’t a lot of info on jack placements around the vehicle either. Thanks!
@Mechani_Cole
@Mechani_Cole 8 күн бұрын
Good question! I lift it from the front engine subframe right in the middle. Sometimes you have to remove the plastics to get to it. I loft the front of the car, then place jack stands on the Pinch welds. Then I raise up the back, if and I do it on the rear diff. If fwd I tend to lift it on the tow how area or somewhere strong. Then place the other set of jackstands. To get it higher, I go back to the front, sometime with a 2x4 on the jack or 2. Then raise it up, then raise the jack stands up. Repeat for the back and then your car is high up and level. I then leave the jack under the car as well. Not holding anything up, but extended just in case a jack stand fails. I do this often to get cars up high and use the truck jack stands to do it. Be sure you are on level ground and block the wheels from rolling. @hectorrocha7366

What were the results of the engine in terms of consumption and performance? I'm considering this carbon cleaning although it seems to be a PITA. I have the same engine running fine except some small spits/shocks/mini misfires you can feel at idle unloaded (putting it in drive/loaded makes the problem disappear).
@Mechani_Cole
@Mechani_Cole 13 күн бұрын
About the same, ran smoother after for sure. Couldn't give an exact on fuel efficiency after, but a noticeable difference. Along with spark plugs and make sure the pcv system is completely sealed. Often times, your issue is cause by a small vacuum leak from a cracked line. Best to replace it all when removing.
