There's a romhack called Final Fantasy II Restored that fixes most of the gameplay problems while still keeping the activity based progression system. Check the readme, it has a comprehensive list of changes.

I adore your analysis of the early FF games. Especially that you show so much love for the details within those games and take all of them as pieces of art by themselves.

Does ff5 need defense? Maybe I'm not deep enough in the discussions. I had a much better time with it than 4. It's incredible

This boys and girls is what happens when you cry out “I want to be able to create my own character”. (IE in this game, the Jobs) Final Fantasy is a series that is resting on the shoulders of Characters. It really does. Not everyone outside of the fanbase knows what the story of FF7 is about, but everyone knows Cloud. Same for Sephirot. They could recognise Tidus and Yuna. They see a FF character and know : that’s probably from Final Fantasy. Nobody remembers the character you created in dragons dogma. Not one. Cloud, Kratos, Lara Croft, Link. They were designed by 1 person. Were successful and became icons over time. Even the Dragonborn from Skyrim is only remembered in that 1 set of iron armor with the dragonhorns. Characters are what makes final fantasy. They really do. The world and story are important for sure. And lucky for the fans they usually nail those as well. But the characters man. That’s where it’s at.

The Opera was big, but what blew me away, was the escape from Magitek Factory! The music, fast paced action, and MODE-7 GRAPHICS (air guitar)

I always kinda saw Sabin as more of a Pro-Wrestler. Hes jacked, has a blond mullet, and can do an EPIC PileDriver!! (GBA or PS1 corrected this)....A Pro-Wrestler that can do a Kamehameha for some reason🤘

One area FFVI doesnt get enough credit in, is the monster design. Especially the larger, more complicated design of Bosses and Mini-Bosses. ATMA is terrifying to imagine seeing in person.

I think the 3ds version is #1 because unlike the pixel version they can talk in the 3d version which is preety badass.

PSP is the best. There is no discussion about that.

Omg thank you for mentioning how confusing the plot twist is. It’s neat that the writers even bothered to go there, it does give the story more depth, but I can’t wrap my head around it.

I’ve been on the fence about getting this. I last played it on an emulator a years after playing the SNES version and haven’t been sure if I want to get it or not for my tablet. Thanks for the review.

i think 5 was a step backwards because it focused only on its job system. otherwise, to me, it didn't offer anything else regarding appeal. There really want much of a story, the graphics were okay and as someone noted, the music was goofy. The game pissed me off.

I rebind my unit abilities to the same keys according to their grid position. So C is the first ability for all units or buildings (stim, blink, feedback, create marine, chrono boost, weapon upgrade) V is always the second ability (storm, create marauder, nexus recall, guardian shield, armor upgrade. F is the third (hallucinate, merge into archon etc) Im not comfy moving me left hand off of the wasd area, so I dont use 5 or beyond and I certainly dont use P, god no) Still I have a ton of available keys to use for buildings or groups: 1-4, tilde, B, mousewheel click, left and right mouse buttons, W) Works for me!

Excellent video! I just beat the Pixel Remaster version last night. It was 'alright' and I didn't understand why I've heard the game torn apart for 25 years. After your description of how the original Famicom version works...now I get it hahaha.

Actually played mystic quest after some of the numbered SNES games. Felt limited in comparison. Roommate saw me playing it and ended up picking up 7 at the store one day. Then I realized something was missing.

@PierFliesАй бұрын
FFVI was made to be played on a crt display. Similar results can be achieved today with a crt filter. The game was never meant to look like these pixel remasters, which look rough and closer to 80s arcade games.
@cloudstrife7083Ай бұрын
@@PierFlies yes I understand your point of view but still with today's tech you could at least make it like i was but looking even better look at what they did with octopath 2 etc
@PierFliesАй бұрын
@@cloudstrife7083 They already made a version like that around 2014-15, where they made new character models. 1, 2, and 4 all got that on the psp also. This pixel remaster was created to try and "update" the original for modern audiences. They just made ugly worthless games by making these pixel remasters. Just play a rom hack of the original if you want updated translations.
