So when are you planning to buy one (canoe) of your own?

@wildernesscanoeassociation we're looking! we've had a few in the past but are looking for a super lightweight one now. those cost a lot more so we haven't picked one up yet.

What happens when the line is 99% used and you want to reload with new. Yours was empty so it was easy to insert new line.
@northcountryexplorers3 күн бұрын
@richardc6932 you have to have it empty to reload. so you have to use all the string or if you have a little left in you'll have pop off the white collar and take the leftover out.

So today, I bought the OPC513 version. It seems to be almost identical to yours. The motor is a Kohler RH265. As I'm now putting it together and reading through, I noticed that in the manual it says to use mid-grade or higher gasoline! I wish that they put that on the outside of the box or in the offers on sites. I would not have bought this if that was a must. So I'm wondering, do you use mid-grade or have you tried it with regular gas? if so, did it seem to run ok? Thanks in advance. *UPDATE: I've been using regular gasoline since day one and it works just fine.*
@northcountryexplorersАй бұрын
we only use non-ethanol gas in all our small engine machines. the dk has a kohler rh265 motor also but the gas cap says 10% ethanol max which is 87 gas so you should be fine.
@BlondieSLАй бұрын
@@northcountryexplorers oh thanks for that! I hadn't noticed that on the cap. It is there. Also, there's a little sticker on the tank itself that shows 2 little gas pump icons. One, with no red circle/line through it, says, E0-E10 while the one with the red circle/line says E15-E85. I'm taking that to mean just what you said there. E10 max is fine. I wonder why the danged book says to use "mid grade or higher!"... I dislike things that are not clear to some of us. LOL I'm almost ready to fire the thing up. I'll probably only put a couple of cups of gas in it as the gas is over a year old. I keep gas for the generators. Tomorrow, I can buy some fresh gas to really try out this thing. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

@BlondieSLАй бұрын
@@northcountryexplorers Well that was something. LOL Yes, it ran just fine on old, regular gas. As expected, it's very noisy, but it sure ate what I gave it without a problem. Fortunately, too, it's not as big as I thought it was going to be. So it'll be easier to store. Take care.
@BlondieSL6 күн бұрын
Now over a month later and I'm loving this investment. I have more to do today. I did end up buying a pair of noise reduction head protectors, which block out most of the noise. I really wouldn't want to be near this noisy machine without them. LOL

Why do they remove the doors for winter? What takes their place for winter?
@northcountryexplorersАй бұрын
I believe they remove the doors to help them stay in good working condition - less exposure to the elements. They put plain doors up in their place.

I have a big yard I wonder if it would work for me
@northcountryexplorersАй бұрын
We have just under half an acre and we can get about half done with two batteries. If you don't mind taking a break to wait for them to charge (or have more than two batteries) you'd have no problem. If it's a lot bigger than half an acre it would probably not be a good choice.

It was one of the harder ones we've ever done. Lots of scrambling up rocks. As sketchy as it seemed, it's a really well traveled one. We passed a lot of people on it. I did find myself wondering what would happen if one of us twisted an ankle (or worse).

Agreed! It is a shame the houses couldn't be restored. They were probably in too poor of shape - they were basically collapsed heaps of wood last time we were there.
