What did you use to coat it without losing luster?
@fuzzysghostmodels984023 сағат бұрын
I don't normally clear coat Alclad. I do use their satin finish for the markings only.

Nice comparison...I got the academy in the stash and it's a improvement over the H.B. offering which I have built. (A version)The G.W.H. kit does look great but is it 60 to 70 $ better than the academy offering idk? Even with getting a master gun barrel your still significantly lower than the G.W.H. A-10c. Also I have heard G.W.H. decals are terrible but these are from the F-15 Reviews so hopefully the A-10 ones are improved. Quality decals are a bit pricey so there's that. All in all both look great and both seem to be an improvement over the Revell and H.B. for sure. Good luck with your builds 👋.
@fuzzysghostmodels984028 күн бұрын
There is a big price difference for sure. Hopefully I can come to a conclusion if it's worth it. How was HB A10? I've heard there are issues.
@benchlife937528 күн бұрын
@@fuzzysghostmodels9840 It does ....overall it's a good kit I think. The big issues are the engine nacelles and the seam line down the middle.(for me) I know folks speak of other issues like accuracy and the lack of engine detail but for me it was good enough to pass as a HOGG. It's on my page if yo wanna take a peep. Happy scaling 👋.

So what's your view of "standard" ?
@fuzzysghostmodels984024 күн бұрын
By standard I'm referring to the regular method of decaling and not the new Eduard ones that can have the carrier film peeled off.

This is a stunning kit with amazing detail. Sukhoi 27 family are the most beautiful jets to my taste. I had the chance to see one in person at an airshow in Paris, doing its cobra thing. I looked-up the price, around $120, it can seem expensive but if you have to bring a regular kit to that level, it probably cost more. One thing I'm concern about is that it could be a mojo killer with so many parts, but it's still very tempting. Thanks for the review👍🏻👋🏻
@fuzzysghostmodels98403 ай бұрын

Hi Fuzzy I thought it was just me but glad to hear we share the same opinion about this kit. It stinks. Have done multiple starts and stops on it, I finally gave up. Model building is supposed to be fun not aggravating, which is all this kit is. Fit is awful, instructions are worse. A total waste of time and money.

Thanks. The struggle is real with this one. I have heard that the later versions of their EA-6B is a bit better. I'd love to see a Tamiya version of the Intruder. Their methods of kit engineering would blow the Kinetic away.

@jr7392 Жыл бұрын
How did yours turn out? I'm in the "fiddly bits" stage of mine and it was a really great kit overall. The only hair shirt was making the cowl closed, required a lot of surgery but other than that, it fit like a dream.
@fuzzysghostmodels9840 Жыл бұрын
Yes the cowling fit is very poor. I left the top and bottom off and just posed them next to the aircraft.
@jr7392 Жыл бұрын
@@fuzzysghostmodels9840 I would have done the same but I'm building it for someone and they wanted it buttoned up. Just removed or didn't add some of the engine and MG bits, a little thinning of the cowling and motor mounts and it (finally) fit flush. Also fortunately no step between the fore end of the cowl and the prop spinner.
