My dog got spayed and then all of a sudden he got a seizure like 2 weeks later. Then he ended up getting liver failure and other issues with his body, then eventually we had to put him down unfortunately.

That would be a great idea if there were more responsible pet owners. But there are not, and I feel like it’s damaging to recommend that people do not spay and neuter with the amount of animals that live in rescues and homeless. 😢

Thank you. I have been delaying spaying my 1.5 yr old beagle for these reasons. With looking into all the options it seems none of them are holistic and I’ve been torn because of the stigma around not being spayed. I love her energy and I fear it could alter something about her that I would regret not to mention the risks involved throughout. She is my SD in training. I have 3 other dogs that are “fixed” since they were from rescues. My SD is always in my care and I am able to keep things stable during her heat and I don’t take her out as much and prevent potential problems during that time from occurring. I can see how tubal ligation would be helpful for public scenario and for a peace of mind. I will do my research to find a vet that does performs it as there will likely be some travel involved. Thanks again for sharing this information!

My dog is triggered by someone hiccuping. It’s really bad she will not come anywhere near you and you want to go straight outside and stay in the backyard or in a separate part of the house. When I first noticed it I accidentally hiccuped I didn’t know it was a trigger and she went and got in the bath. Can you please help she is 13 years old

As a dog trainer, who almost exclusively works with behavioral dogs (evaluating bite record dogs at the shelter, traumatized, dog reactive, people reactive, fearful, overstimulated, overwhelmed, and often dangerous). I couldn't agree more. I can spot an e-collar trained dog from a mile away. Dog reactive dogs trained with an e-collar hold their bodies a certain way and you can see a dog crazy focusing on the owner (seemingly under control and very still) go from quiet to blow-up. In order for dogs to be able to handle stimulus in their environment and be relaxed, they must practice calm and relaxed. There is nothing about being afraid (of being shocked) to break eye-contact with the owner or move that promotes relaxed. The dog is in a constant state of stress. The dog is not practicing calm. Yes, with the e-collar, you can stop a well rehearsed reactivity cycle from continuing to be rehearsed (which is good), but your dog is not changing their brains response to other dogs correctly. You can get compliance, you can see quick fix results, but these results are harmful to the dogs' well-being. I've had to undo the damage caused by these big box training companies year after year for nearly 16 years. I am also a therapist. If I shocked my clients diagnosed with PTSD when they showed irritability, agitation, ECT in crowds, their outward presenting symptoms would likely go away. No one on earth would be like, "you've cured that person!" "The results speak for themselves." Any reasonable person would know the client is only now suffering (even more) in silence. I'm not skipping processing, teaching life-skills, healing how the brain 🧠 and body respond to stimulus for my human or dog clients.

Hi Saro, my beagle was once lost and stolen by stranger. He has become unfriendly and barks a lot every time someone passes by. He doesn't want strangers to touch him. How should i make him understand that strangers do not bring danger and he should not bark? Please help me..

How do I stop my dog from the spinning around in circles and barking when I car passes or when somebody enters the house energy she has is very bad then after that she gets tried and goes for the water bowl

My dog only chews up things when we are not at home so I'm thinking maybe anxiety cuz we left

My dogs might be getting too much praise after hearing this list. I have 3 dogs and all 3 act out with a different bad behavior. One barks non-stop looking through our house windows or from the car, another digs holes in the garden and barks a lot, and the 3rd whines unless I constantly cuddle and praise him. I never heard of only using praise for them as a reward. This video is very helpful.

My one Bearded-Hair Collie could whine his way through eating a steak If I pet my other 2 dogs he gets louder. When I drive with him in the car, he will whine the whole ride if I do not keep one hand on him. When I take the dogs for a run on the beach or at the park, my other dogs run and have fun, but Flynn stays right next to me jumping up and down until I stop walking and pet him. His vet said he might benefit from antidepressant medication. I am starting to think he might have been born mentally challenged. I did not get him until he was 3, now he is 9. I would never give him up.

I don’t have an issue with my dogs marking inside, but outside. I have 3 1 and a half year old pit mixes. Two are neutered and one is intact. The one who’s intact marks outside in the backyard over the others and I now notice the others started to mark in the backyard as well. I’ve been correcting it. Is that what I should do? I notice it frustrates the intact dog. Can issue occur if I leave it alone? Should I?

I can only speak of my two beagles. I don’t know about other beagle’s behavior. Mine are both from a breeder who has been breeding champion hunting dogs for fifty years. People from all over the world are on years long waitlist for one of his dogs. He’s a family friend, so we were able to get one three years ago, and another one a year ago (even being friends, it was a year wait for each pup). We got the dogs as pets, they’ve both been neutered. We bought them from this breeder because we know and trust him. He’s spent fifty years breeding the dogs to be as healthy as possible and to have good dispositions. We never had any intention of using them to hunt, only as pets. But, we had no idea how innate and imbedded their hunting instinct would be. They both go insane when they see a rabbit outside. When they are outdoors they immediately hit on a sent and nose down track the rabbit. Hell, you can just quietly say the word “rabbit” when they are in the house, and their heads pop up and go on a swivel. They can be in a part of the house where they can’t see outside, and will still go crazy if a rabbit comes in the yard. I don’t think you, or any trainer in the world, could take them off leash and have them stay with you or recall them once they pick up a scent and take off. Their brains turn off and there’s nothing but that hunt. To make a short story long, we have to use the training/hunting collar to recall our dogs, whether we’ve taken them to a place we’re they can run loose, or whenever they escape the house. We were told by the breeder that we would need to do that. And we spent a lot of time with him learning how to train them using the collar. The collars have a three stimulus… beeping noise, vibration, and shock. (For the people who don’t know, the shock is like a static shock you get when you walk on carpet and touch the door knob. It’s not electrocuting them.) Once you train them so you can recall them (initially with shock, then vibration, then beep), you only have to push the button that makes the beeping sound and they come back. There is a training process you have to go thru though. You can’t just put the collar on, let the dog run free, then zap him and expect him to come back. It won’t, it will be confused and scared and have no idea what is happening. You also can’t just Willy-Nilly use the collar for everything (zap to make them stop barking, zap if they go on the sofa, zap if they get in your trash, etc), that’s abusive and will ruin your dog. This post is mainly for the readers, I’m sure the Trainer on this channel knows all of this… whether or not he agrees.

1: food is a social gesture too. wolfs/dogs in the wild eat a mouse or a rabbit - not just twice a day or every other day. it is a mixture. and there is no insulin rush and no diabetics if you use no-carb treats. and not too much. my dogs get 14, 15, 16 years (golden retriever, GSD etc) - so quite old. i allways trained on high levels using treats as one reward between others. btw in nature dogs have not to heel, to be sent forward, to do SAR, to stand, turn, stay etc on distance. this all is not "natural". 2. as my dogs allways learned very quickly and kept the command when i weaned it allmost from food and used the treats for the new tricks. 3. food is great for anxious animals or otherwise traumatized and aggressive ones because it is social without creating too much excitement (except when the dog comes just from starving but i had even this and they calmed down within days knowing they would have enough food from now on). 4. you can mix all kinds of rewards: friedly expression, food, play, touch - everything the dog likes in this moment. it also can be just sniffing an interesting place, have a run or a swim...

I have a 10 month pitbull I got from a shelter I give her hill science diet like I been feeding my small other dog .I'm on a budget so I need to know exactly what to feed them instead and not to give them diarrhea .What do you suggest please that won't be expensive for 2 dogs.

Ok I am trying to bell train my puppy, taking him out in the morning, a walk everyday.he will pee outside multiple times, come back in and pee again . He can have multiple accidents within 10 minutes. Should I worry ? He is 15 weeks old
