Is it good or bad to give foliar spray 7 month age mango plant?
@PlantLifeYT6 күн бұрын
It is a bad idea to use foliar spray during the heat of summer or in a bright light dry environment. You could cause burns on the leaves and not get the benefit of this style of fertilizer application. Apply foliar spray during the rainy season, but only if your plant needs it. Otherwise, applying appropriate fertilizer at the base might be a better choice.

I see conflicting info about aphids and cilantro. In September, I want to sow cilantro seeds in a part of my raised garden that recently had kohlrabi. Their leaves were attacked by aphids. That space will be empty for over a month. I wonder what the risk is for cilantro? I have growing leeks near that space.
@PlantLifeYT8 күн бұрын
The combination of leeks and cilantro “should” keep the aphids at bay. Pests can be hard to predict, so keep an eye out, particularly under the leaves. I wish you luck!

vermiculite is slightly acidic
@PlantLifeYT12 күн бұрын
Vermiculite is typically in the neutral pH range but like most organic materials can vary. If working with plants that are sensitive to pH, then it is a good idea to either purchase a product with its pH indicated or to test it.

Thank you for this excellent informative video! 🙂 Istm that both perlite & vermiculite are very hard & scratchy & they irritate the tender roots of plants, much like how a particle placed inside an oyster's shell causes irritation to the oyster's body that ultimately results in the creation of a pearl. But it's not easy to find planting soil that doesn't contain it! My pointsettia was in poor shape after 1 1/2 years & 1 re-potting: i unpotted it yesterday, & its orginal shape of the root clump appeared the same as it was in the beginning. As i gently began working on the dense clump to try & separate the tender roots, all these pieces of vermiculite & perlite were falling out. There was a dense hard clump near the base of the pointsettia - it contained large pieces of vermiculite, with perlite clinging to the tender root strands hanging below. I suspect there are still some large pieces of the sharp abrasive stuff trapped in that clump that i'm going to try to relieve my poor pointsettia of today! It's no good!

Hello City Steading Plant Life! I bought bok choy (shang hai) from the grocery store. I have been cutting them at the base, and soaking the base in water until it gets some roots. After about 10 days or so, I put them in organic soil (miracle gro), and gave them a water; and placed them outside in the sun. Texas here; 90 degrees about; pretty good humidity as well. They def had full sun, but within 24 hours; they are all dead LOL!! Wilted leaves; etc... do you have any tips or know what could have happened... did they overheat?. The soil is still moist. I came across your video because maybe I should start from seed instead of doing it from the grocery store. Appreciate your video as well!
@PlantLifeYT25 күн бұрын
More than likely it was too hot for your newly rooted bok choy. They prefer temp range of 64-68 degrees F but can grow in colder or hotter conditions as long as they get there gradually.

I have passion fruit wild all over my 6+ acres in NC but the fruit never seems to ripen. I thought it might be an ornamental variety?? When I pick a fruit it has a thin wall and it’s kind of fibrous inside… the flowers are beautiful. Is the plant just old?? Please tell me what you think. Thank you. I’m sure I was picking them ‘green’. How do you know when they’re ripe?
@PlantLifeYTАй бұрын
Passion fruit are fully ripe when they drop from the plant. As you aren’t sure what your particular plant is, I would recommend caution. There are over 500 species with only a small number that produce edible fruit. If you can get your particular plant identified, that might be best.

I live in s.e. KS, I have 3 poms 5 years old the come up every year but never seen a bloom, there from seed, so do you have any idea what to do to get them to bloo. Thanks.
@PlantLifeYTАй бұрын
The most common suggestion to promote blooming is pruning. Pruning promotes new growth and creates a fuller more bush like plant. It should also put more energy into the main trunk, aiding in protecting the entire plant from damage. Feeding your tree each spring and watering deeply during that time should also help.
@craigbasoco4886Ай бұрын

I propagate a tropical hibiscus my grandpa gave me from Cayman Islands using honey as the root hormone and 3 of 4 rooted nicely and are looking really good and healthy today. I put my cuttings in a cup of water until the roots came out and then put them in dirt, but think i will go with this method of straight to the dirt this summer. I think ill get some root hormone too to see if i notice any differences with the honey.

I’ve grown plumeria for about 16 years. First in SW Mo., now in Central Texas, both cuttings and seeds. Cuttings is much more immediate. I have been seed saving for years now so unfortunately I don’t recall the original variety. I’m sure there was some cross pollination as well. My seeds now are a dark brown and the leaves are massive and mostly flat with the typical ragged edge. They have a bit of a bitter, peppery bite raw, but mellow nicely when cooked. The leaves are large enough that we can remove the stems and use them as a spinach replacement.

@PlantLifeYTАй бұрын
The AeroGarden is an all in one hydroponics unit. It sets the light duration for you, reminds you when to add the nutrient solution that comes with the kit and tells you when the water level is running low. If you are not using a unit with these features then you will have to supply the light source, be it artificial or natural as well as maintain water level and nutrients.

It is possible that it may need a deep watering. Use a slow gentle stream of water for roughly one hour. This will allow the water to penetrate deeper and not be lost to surface evaporation
