Perfect. I have been sober for 3 years. It saved my life
@Astral_Dusk

I found have 2-3 veggies+plant protein shakes mindblowingly helpful for staying sober. The wellbeing shift, the energy, the fitness boost - the whole thing skyrocketed for me after this keystone shift in my diet. I realized all the shame I had from the alcohol blackouts were.... living an inauthentic life. The worst part was just not living my best potential. Felt dead and I wanted to live and can absolutely say I feel like I am truly living a meaningful structured and energized life now. Thought I had social anxiety but I feel more social and peace than ever now. It's wild but I feel like nutrition frankly STILL doesn't get enough emphasis in supporting a high quality life. Even my thinking has becoming incredibly more positive, the chemistry really does seem to influence our thinking. I don't feel any need to sugarcoat or avoid negativity or avoid a full spectrum of emotion but I just feel more positive, inherently so as a baseline.

Soda drinks, if not carbonated water, contain phosphorous, which is not good for bone health. I recommend giving up soda drinks too. Old king alcohol will cost you for sure. I have no reservations about preaching against it. It is poison and caters to selfishness. Resolve to give it up no matter what. It is a dangerous drug.

I wish more people could feel it. I hope you stay the course. I/we appreciate intelligent good people who are alcohol free. Thank you very much!!

Hit rock bottom 21/11/2021 and quit drinking the day after - Now 1 year and 10 months without alcohol. What gradually happened: Clear mind, more self love, Things that seemed impossible for me to do ... now seem possible, going back to school, Doing yoga 3 times a week, better relationship with my brother, sister, mom and nephews, more balance on my skateboard, working on my future (which didn't exist when I was weekend binging). I don't miss getting wasted but I do miss a good glass of wine or prosecco from time to time - unfortunately I never was a moderate drinker so one glass of wine will gradually sent me back to where I was - thx 4 sharing your video

Great talk, I can associate with this 2 months sober, after drinking most days for a long time. I’m 58 and found doing exercise daily makes it much easier. Tried before lasted 9 months before caving, keep trying.

Since I decided to take an ongoing hiatus from drinking I have found that I do not want to go out for empty socialization ie going to a bar for the sake of going to a bar. This is something that I wish I would have started much sooner.

Thanks fo watchin'!!! The funny thing about spirituality is that it fills life with IRONY. Like the idea that "being spiritual" helps you "get more" out of life. I recognize the potent irony in such a concept... But I am also a fan of living my life The Middle Way and not taking things so seriously. So, I'm curious - how has your spiritual awakening changed your life?! Lmk <3

Hi Bella, this was such a great watch, thank you for taking the time to make this. It rang true on so many levels. I decided to go alcohol-free 40 days ago. Initially this was a temporary measure, but since then I have had a strong urge to continue this indefinitely, especially since watching a few KZfaq videos explaining the facts, as well as doing a lot of self-reflection. For me, my drinking increased because my relationship had been horrible for many years, so I was (without realising it) drinking to get me through weekends at home. I am slowly realising this was having a profound negative effect on me, as I was numbing the pain and covering up the emotions that would/should have led me to make some truthful/painful decisions. 40 days in, I know what needs to be done - taking steps to change things significantly. Not easy, but I only realised this when the drinking stopped, even though the levels were not at the levels of a full blown alcoholic. Its still early days, and I feel wobbly about much in life, but feel determined (in a way I havent before) to continue experiencing life now through a sober lens, not a pretend-happy alcohol-fuelled one. I actually feel pretty buzzed about it. Especially as I am realising that I am able to connect so much more deeply with people I like and who like me, than before. So much more I could say, but I wont! The other quick thing is I have used self-hypnosis streaming on Spotify, with Adam Cox hypnosis sessions. He does loads of great sessions to listen to for free, and I really feel as though the "stop drinking" ones have helped me on this relatively new path. Just thought I would flag that to people who need a bit of a helping hand to give up the booze. I just listen each night, but I currently have zero urge to grab a drink or go for a night out, which is amazing! ANyway, thank you =- you are amazing - I have liked and followed, and look forward to seeing/hearing more! x 💖

I feel like there has been a fog over my life and abstaining from alcohol (I was also sober curious, didn’t know there was a term for it) has lifted that fog (for the most part, I still have trauma that makes me not as present as I wish to be). I feel like I’m seeing the world in vibrant color if that makes any sense. When I go for walks or tend to my garden, I notice more details and pay attention to the nature around me more. Even birds! Lol They’re fascinating to watch.

I really appreciate your candor and vulnerability in this video and will doubtless return to it for hope and inspiration. Hii, enjoyed the video! I was a severe drug/alcohol (alcohol, weed, ketamine, several uppers and psychedelics) addict for several years, it destroyed me mentally and physically and I already had mental problems before my addiction started. Ive been sober since January 17th this year. The first 2 months were excruciating and the withdrawals were horrible. Ive really worked on myself and my health, and I've been reflecting on why everything got so out of control. My life is better then ever now and i love the journey im taking.

My problem for the longest tine was believing that booze was the good time ....the bars, the going out .... That kept me drunk for decades....its NOT... people are the good time, health, accomplishments, being acutely AWARE of your senses....thats the real high...thats euphoria.....but that means that we feel the other emotions too, boredom, sadness, loneliness, pain ...thats what makes us ALIVE....i ran from those when i should have been running towards those emotions ro get through the other side stronger and happier....

Yes yes yes. It is the balance, the duality of life’s experiences that makes a full, happy life. It’s not even about being happy all the time - it’s about embracing the full spectrum of experiences. Thanks for sharing! I've never been interested in drinking and often get asked why, so it's interesting getting the perspective from someone who used to enjoy it but feel better without it. It's interesting to hear you talk about peer pressure, I suppose I have been used to doing my own thing in other ways so I am fairly comfortable not doing the same as others around me. I totally resonate with what you said about being able to have fun without relying on anything external. I don't like the idea of using a substance as a crutch, and learning to channel our inner power to wonder & play is a really critical skill to enjoy life. Sending hugs!
