There's another one called F/Bb which is G/C but a step down so you can play w/ Great Highland Bagpipe players.

A rather rare instrument from what I have heard! Kind of sounds like bagpipes crossed with a violin.

George, I had watched this video many times before I ordered, after I ordered and now that my Symphonie is here, I am watching it again, and learning so many more things that I thought I had learned. :o)

I had no idea the wheel was so big thanks for making this
@altarwind2 жыл бұрын
great observation! The wheel size varies depending on the number of strings. The more strings, the bigger the wheel (a larger wheel provides more 'real estate' to squeeze in those strings) . Cheers

This will attach to any Gurdy? I like it.
@altarwind3 жыл бұрын
yes! We make all our models with an access panel on the underside, and predrill out all the fittings for electronics (on the inside). So retrofitting our models with electronics is relatively easy
@BirdWhisperer463 жыл бұрын
And why would I need to do this?
@altarwind3 жыл бұрын
realistically you never would. but still, people like to tinker so we make the video

Always wondered if the drone strings could be keyed with a few flat buttons that could be played and locked/set in place. It looks possible yet it's more likely a rare historical item if ever produced!
@altarwind3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! There's a couple of ways to alter the pitch of the drones: 1) drone capos- these are little flip switches that allow you to instantly raise the pitch of a drone (the instrument I'm playing here has capos on each string) 2) This particular instrument also has a fretboard as part of the low drones, so they can be played that way as well
