I have a 1965 built in November one month before I was born. Owned it since 2009. Titled as a 66'. I've rebuilt, replace the engine, removed 4 layers of paint, no interior yet, just seats, and steering wheel 😂... I have wanted to take her on a journey to Louisiana. Afraid to leave her over night. 2 two times parole have tried to steal her.. guess I have to sleep in her.. thank you for sharing.. inspiring, love it..

I saw a FF-1 wagon in a junkyard a few years ago and was fascinated because I’d never seen a Subaru like that before. It was such an interesting little car. Too bad it had been sitting outside for many years and was completely rusted out.

I think the reaction to driving it is a definite bit overkill. I had a 993 C4S manual and I didn't squeal like that. I've had various older vintage Ferraris, many Corvettes of all vintages, etc and while older Porsches are certainly cool, it doesn't provoke this level of emotion.

Ah c’mon… a little hyperbole for KZfaq car nerds is ok! But, I agree that a car seldom elicits that amount of raw elation. But maybe it’s genuine, who knows.

I had a rare Porsche BergSpyder race car #906-004 looks kinda like an Elva Porsche (13 of) mid engined at times had an 8-cyl. engine and when sold to a friend of mine it had a 901 6-cyl. engine. The car was the werkes entry for the '65 Euro. HillClimb Championship driven by Gerhard Mitter. Won several events & scored the most points but in those days only a few BEST finishes were counted so came 2nd by a single point! The car had a 904 reinforced chassis & 906 serial number. Have many pics won many vintage races in the car #60 GP white.

Couldn't agree more, great video! I found my 912E in northern California a few years back and drove it 3,900 trouble free miles home to Florida. It was an incredible experience from the Redwoods, to the Bonneville Salt flats and finally carving up the Dragons Tail in the Smokey Mountains before ending up at my home in South Florida. Every time I tell this story to a guy at Cars & Coffee with a beautiful early 911garage queen, I sense that they look at my car with a new found appreciation afterwards. CHEERS

Not sure I’d use “ethical” to describe Porsche modifications. It’s a thing you own. That said, it’s increasingly hard to find original classic Porsches, to experience what these were really like. If someone wants a faster, more modern car, there are plenty of them. A modified classic Porsche will get left for dead by any modern Porsche (and many other cars), so best to enjoy it for what it is.

911s aren't rare or scare enough yet to dissuade the modders. There is a through line at which point modifying Porsches is--financially--a dumb idea. I never thought Rod Emroy's 356es made sense but recent sales of 2nd hand modded cars well over half a mil changed my mind.

If you have the luxury of having time to care about the "ethical concerns" of modifying your car then you're doing okay no matter what you decide.
