And for that, Boulahrouz only got a yellow card, which was ridiculous. Raising your leg to waist level and kicking it around the waist and thigh of the opposition player, should immediately be a red card, period. This violent foul shows that the Dutch wanted to eliminate Cristiano from the very beginning because Cristiano was already, back then, the biggest threat to them and Portugal's biggest star. It's clear as day. And the Dutch managed to do it because Cristiano eventually had to leave the field very early in the first half, with an injury. So for me, everything that Portugal did afterwards was justified. It was the Dutch who started it, they eliminated Ronaldo due to a disgusting foul, so the Portuguese responded. The referee was at fault, he made a huge mistake - he should have immediately given Boulahrouz a red card for this disgusting attack on Ronaldo. It would be a clear signal to both teams that there would be no tolerance for any harsh fouls, and then neither team would make such a mess out of this match.
