Look into the soldarini shadow FF fly reel for a low price full cage reel option. 120 for a full cage, machined aluminum, 4.2oz reel with a sealed drag. Devin olson’s shop carried them

Aaron, Thanks for watching and your feedback. I do agree, casting is quite critical. Although there are times and situations I use the water load/haul cast, that is not exclusively what I use. As a matter of fact, on this same day, I recorded another video which I am editing right now. I consistently see casting demonstrated in that video, and hopefully you will watch that as well. Devin Olsen and Lance Egan even teach about that water haul in their Modern Nymphing series. However, to your point, how you finish your cast and making sure not to lob is critically important.

Good vid man I’m watching all your streamers vids it’s got me itching! Any tips for finding larger browns on the gunpowder? I got a pretty good rainbow like 13 inches but I can’t seem to get into anything larger. Im new so technique probably isn’t incredible but I’ve been going pretty much every day for the past three months. Any way tight lines hope to come to your next streamer clinic.

Hey Austin, Thanks for watching any of the videos. I miss fishing the streamers for sure. However, usually it is a better technique in fall through spring. My tips for the larger ones.... 1.) Fish larger streamers 2.) Fish deeper water 3-6 feet 3.) Fish near structure 4.) Strip set on everything Keep in mind the average fish in that river is 9 inches, so anything above that is a solid fish. I have personally caught 18.5" as my biggest there and hooked about 6-10 in the 20 plus inch class. I will hold a streamer clinic in the fall. Please follow me on IG and I will post about it. Likely will hold it in October/November. Ideally would love to keep it to about 3 people to maximize opportunities to fish, learn, and get feedback. I look forward to working with you on it!

I've been looking at the 10' 2wt Diamondback. I checked on buying an extra tip to have on hand and found they want $125.00 for one. I thought that was somewhat steep due to the fact that tips for my other 2wt and 3wt rods, which are in the same price range, are 1/2 that much. I'll wait and see if they'll offer deals on them come Black Friday or over the holidays.

I hear great things about the 10' 2 wt. They were sold out, but should have just re-stocked, so now is the time to grab on. I got the 10'1, which you saw here, and the 10'10" 2 wt. I wanted a little extra length on the second one. I would just wait until you need one, after it breaks, and grab for the $65 bucks. Crazy they make you pay over $100 for a just in case piece. Usually, most companies will want $40-60. Thanks for watching and commenting. Tight lines and enjoy the rod when you grab one!

@@tightliningmd I enjoy the 1wt. I got it for a pressured tailwater where I fish 8x regularly. It does well casting small dries and nymphing and handled 8x without any issues so far. @tightliningmd
@tightliningmd 20 күн бұрын
Hey Alex! This video was basically a 3 parter, because fishing was that good on this day. I filmed this, then the sighter angle video which was my previous video, and also Euro Nymphing the Simple Way. The goal of that day was to really just film the Simple Way video, but fishing was consistently good all morning. I likely caught 40-50 fish this day lol, in about 4 hours. I mean one of the best mornings I have had. As a result, I had on my more standard Mono Rig, which I left the car planning to shoot the Simple Way video using that leader. I ended up having a banner day, so I have 3 videos now with this style leader. In reality, if I know I will be nymphing primarily, I still prefer the micro rig. I use that more and on guide trip. Occasionally though, I will dabble in the leader you saw here.

Can’t see your line in the water. Have no idea how exactly you rigged your leader with flies (distance between flies). How do you “know” you are deep enough? What role does your line hand play in managing the fly line during the drift? What are you doing with the free line during the drift? When you reach the end of the drift without a take, how do you move the flies on removing them from the water to start the next cast? To present this information, be specific descriptively for the viewer. Unless you are assuming your viewers are experienced with each of these components, you must be clear and specific about what they should be looking for during performance of the tasks. Especially when it is difficult to clearly view what is transpiring. If this demo is assuming your viewers are experienced fishers, the above suggestions may not be necessary. But are reminders of what should be in place.
@tightliningmd
@tightliningmd 21 күн бұрын
All fair points. I think to a degree some could be more well explained by me. However, some of the points about what you can't see really would require basically a professional camera crew and multiple set ups on the stream. I do believe a lot of the people viewing do have a background of knowledge, which help. Whereas, to your point, those who don't have a level of ignorance as to what is going on. Thanks for the feedback and hopefully in future videos I can help brush up some of those points some.

So, all of this line on the reel is basically mono, I know there’s got to be a backing of some kind, but from what I seen there is no fly line? (Or traditional fly line)
@tightliningmd
@tightliningmd 26 күн бұрын
Hey Randy! Thanks for watching and commenting. The leader is all mono for this year. However, I do have backing and fly line on. I apologize for not mentioning that. I have standard Dacron and then any brand Euro Line you prefer. I think Rio and Cortland produce good quality, but any will suffice. I will say, I like them with a perfection loop at the end, simply because you can tie ANY leader type to it, especially if you saw a blanket hatch and wanted to cast traditionally. I connect my leader to the Euro Line via a clinch knot, if there is a loop. Otherwise, you can do a UV splice, add a tippet ring to end, and even other options. What you MUST avoid is a perfection loop to perfection loop. Meaning, don't buy manufactured Euro Leaders, they SUCK! Too thick, too much memory, and come with a perfection loop. As a result, when you are drifting or casting with two loops they will get caught in the guides and you won't get a smooth cast or drift as you manage the line. I sell leaders, that I hand tie, on my website and they are very durable, delicate, and work well for this style. If you ever want one, just head on over and I ship them out all over the US. I am on vacation starting tomorrow, so check back on the 13th and you will see all the flies and leaders I use and tie. Thanks for watching and I hope my answer helped. Tight lines and have fun on the water!

how does a fly shop give discounts on items that have MAP pricing?
@tightliningmd

Guess that’s for the fly shop to figure out. It’s also a one use code: which allows them to sell at full price for all items. However; still allows a customer to get a small discount on a specific item of their choice for just one purchase. It’s not uncommon practice. Troutbitten has many similar discount codes for a variety of stores nationwide.
