Fantastic video. I love the slo-mo as well. However, I am still stuck on the wraps. My thread at the base of the triangle separates wider and wider each wrap so that I am knocking into the hook eye by my third wrap - if that makes sense. Any thoughts?
@dtffishingmi2 сағат бұрын
@@jasonstewart9823 Thank you! If I’m understanding correctly, it sounds like your line is coming off of your spool too freely, and you may need to increase the tension on your bobbin holder. If you have a basic bobbin holder, you can do this by removing the spool and adjusting the arms so that they are closer together, which will increase tension on the spool. Hope this helps!

I pretty much didn't do anything right here. The fish also took the perfect angle down and away from me, and the line was basically tight before I even set the hook. My dads best friend when he was young had his thumb "de-gloved" (flesh stripped from bone like removing a glove) by a pike or musky when he was cleaning a knife over the side of a boat. Fish came from under the boat and hit that knife like a Rapala, taking the thumb with it. This happened in 1958 on the Detroit River. Guys name was Erv (I've forgotten his last name), and he kept the bones of his thumb in a jar. I remember seeing them when I was a kid in the '60s.

Newbe using braid.... I didn't see you applied any lubrication on the loops. Not necessary?
@dtffishingmi14 күн бұрын
Braided line has a slicker surface than mono or fluoro. When cinching knots using only mono or fluoro, lubricating the wraps can help to alleviate the tackiness of the line's surface so that it can slide more easily and cinch properly. Braid tends to slide more easily across the surface of fluoro and mono, because its surface is slick. If you use a braided line that is coated with Teflon, wax, or some other coating that makes the surface more tacky, then lubricating the wraps before cinching might be a good idea, or even necessary, since it won't slide as easily across the surface of the mono or fluoro. Having said that, I don't recall any times that I had difficulty cinching the Alberto because of a coated braided line, and I have used them. It might be something that starts to become more of a problem when using very heavy leader and heavy coated braid (like 80+ lb. test). Hope this helps!

Thanks for the video. I tried this but It does not work for a 10lb braid to a 10 lb floro...the floro wraps the braid instead of the other way around. Tried several times. It seems your method only works when the leader floor is much thicker than the braid. You might want to mention that in your title.
@dtffishingmi16 күн бұрын
It is very difficult with light fluoro. For fluoro <= 12 lb, I use the Alberto knot. I start using the FG knot at fluoro >= 17lb. I'll keep that in mind for future videos - when I am finished covering the knots I think are worth covering, I am planning to produce some videos that cover all of the most important knots to learn and their specific use cases, including line types, techniques, etc.
