I can’t take the chance of inhaling any fumes. I thought I would have to give up soap making and I found out if ur water is frozen solid like ice cubes and u add the lye flakes ( I use flakes cause I will never use the beads again they flew into the air and thankfully I had a mask on so I use flakes only from bramble berry the flakes r to heavy to flow at into the air.), anyway if u freeze ur water into ice cubes then measure ur lye flakes out and add the lye flakes to ur ice cubes then gently stir a lil add more give it I stir then some more then stir and once it’s 1/4 of the way melted u can dump the rest in. I don’t know why this works but there is 100% no fumes and it still gets hot gradually let it cool or u can do ur heat transfer method at that point when it’s at its hottest. This was a total game changer.

Hi Elly, First of all, I want to thank you for all your wonderful KZfaq videos and for sharing all your recipes. As a beginner, they are a real gift. I have a question for you... I would love to make your coffee soap. You mix the coffee ice cubes with the lye and then add the oils. Do the temperatures need to be the same at this point, or does it not matter? Thank you in advance from a reasonably sunny Netherlands ;) Kind regards, Petra

Elly, thanks so much for your replies. I want to understand for the liquid soap, is it essential to use olive oil? The reason because it's very expensive here in India. Can I use normal refined oils? Secondly, the NaOH shows no percentage on Amazon in here.. I will try to check with the manufacturer about the percentage. Just in case they say it's 100%, what should I do. Please let me know. I am going to begin with the simplest soap you made with coconut oil. 😍. But thank you so much for your beautiful videos and your replies. Nice to know you love Chandrika soap. Even I love it but I no longer buy it anymore cos it melts way too fast. Currently I am using fiama shower oil. Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been doing M&P spam for years, but have just started doing cold process. I watch a LOT of videos, and while I am in awe of the creativity of makers like Holly, that you mentioned, and Katy from Royalty Soap, I know I am not the person who is going to be making high-top soaps with multiple embeds and four layers of piping. I want to make soap that gets used! And I agree that not only is there a market for simpler, good quality soap, but that there is a huge continuum of creativity available within that segment, too. I don’t want to go from having a fun hobby to having an unfun business, so I appreciated your comments/experience on what was rolling around in the back of my mind, but that I hadn’t fully realized I needed to think through. Again, thank you!

Hi Elly! HELP! I used Extra virgin olive oil, I follow this recipe and my soap never got to the Vaseline stage. I blended for more than 50 minutes! I placed it in the oven like you said and ended up dried and flaky. I texted the PH AND ITS HIGH! Around 12 How can I correct this so I can salvage the soap? Thank you!

Thank you for this recipe and tutorial Ms. Elly❤ Could an equivalent measure of water infused with jasmine green tea be used in place of plain water to which the lye will be mixed? Was just thinking it may add some green benefits to the skin and the fragrance of jasmine flowers, too. Would it be alright?

Hi Elly. Thanks for the tutorial. I've been making CP & HP soap for years but never ventured into liquid soap. You make it look so easy. I have a few questions. 1. Is this an all- purpose soap? (dishes as well as body) 2. Will adding salt dry out the skin? If so is there a substitute for salt? 3. I want to make a moisturizing shower soap. Can I use goat's milk in this recipe? If so, when do I add it?

Thanks Elly, I just made a charcoal soap and put Blue Lotus and Pink lotus essential oil. I think it has caused the problem. I have let it set completely, but I am guessing if I grate it down I can process it as you have done here. Any hints on how to use these essential oils so they behave? The perfume is fantastic, I used the cedar wood as the base oil
