In the meantime..... Gary Carr played the leading part in the movie "Bolden" (I live in Amsterdam, Holland) still haven't seen it, I think I should order the DVD, it never came out here. I had the gutfeeling that it flopped. Wynton Marsalis played a big part, musically. He had to teach the main character to play like Bolden. But it IS Michael Ondaatjes story of "Coming through slaughter", as mentioned in this clip. Therefore it is quite fragmented; hazy memories of a man in an asylum. The only thing I don't understand, is why this was never mentioned when the movie came out. Even Gary Carr said something in the terms of how people would know more about Buddy Bolden and his life, leaving the theatre. Which is absolute bs, because there IS nothing more to know then mentioned in this clip. Maybe Ondaatje didn't approve?? Still wondering about that.

I've listened to so much useless music in my life, and I make the mistake of continuing to do so. As soon as I put on Mahler, anything by him, or Bruckner, Bach, Led Zeppelin, Count Basie etc., I get angry at myself for being so stupid.

I first came across this on St. Etienne's 'The Trip' compilation (highly recommended if you like soul pop from yesteryear) and it hooked into my brain. Lovely harmonies and haunting middle section.
