Dude. Good work on this portion of history. I love it. I went to Hoosier Boys State at ISU in Terre Haute. My old man used to tell me about how they threw soap suds in the fountain.

What about Azusa pacific as a WAC expansion target? They have more than enough sports to go D1, travel partner for cal Baptist and another presence in Southern California, plus they could have the perfect opportunity to relaunch their football program at the D1 level

Im a Mizzou fan so its weird to no longer be the sole FBS team of the state. I honestly hope MO State really climbs quickly somehow and develops into a solid in state rival. It does have the making of the classic city school vs rural school as most of the state including St. Louis and Kansas City would stick with Mizzou while the rural southwest, ozark, and maybe bootheel would be drawn to the Bears.

Much praise for the amazing amount of detail you put into this!! It is very impressive to look into all the little details on what factors into adding and not adding a school to a conference! I'll add my two cents to the expansion question: I fully agree as the best option is Northern Kentucky. Opens the Valley to the Cincy market, they have a strong basketball brand, and a financial profile that would fit in with other Valley schools, plus travel isn't as bad as I previously thought. Wright State and UW Milwaukee are decent choices too, but I understand and see how their barriers of entry would hinder them. One thing that should be taken into account is the MVFC question. With MO State leaving both the Valley proper and the football conference, that would leave both at 11 programs. Not to mention the ever-present chance of North Dakota State and South Dakota State going FBS. That is where I think St. Thomas will come into play. All their Olympic sports are in the Summit, just like the Dakota schools, and I don't see the Tommies leaving that league at the moment. However, football does compete in non-scholarship football in the Pioneer League, which shares offices with the MVC and MVFC and is led by the same commissioner as the MVFC. And given their commitment to football, its' financial backing and football's competitiveness, a jump to scholarship football will definitely be a much easier proposition for them than most other programs. So TL;DR: Northern Kentucky to the MVC, St. Thomas to the MVFC

Hockey is a heavily overlooked college sport so it is nice that it has its own conference

Y'know its nice seeing you get back to hockey leagues while the Re-Alignment stuff seems to have finally calmed. Although I think this is your 1st pro hockey league right?
@d1_360Ай бұрын
1st pro league. Get all the hockey stuff done now, then basketball/football/baseball. By then, the ACC downstream effect should be in motion and all the defunct/current college conferences can be done.

Add NDSU. Already MVFC member, upset Oklahoma in NCAA tournament, and CBS is a MUCH better network than what the Summit has with CBSSN.

The USHL is now on par with the CHL leagues, albeit below the OHL and WHL. There needs to be further expansion out west and towards the northeast. Try again in Columbus and throw some teams from Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Boston, Philly, and Denver

Three of the 8 D1 schools you named would have to add a men’s sport for D1. But they would also have to add a women’s sport for Title IX! While Metro and West Texas, are clearly not interested. Would they have to add a men’s sport if they ever wanted to move to D1?

Damn good call on the WCC additions! SU and GCU both get invites. GCU was a slight surprise because of their for profit profile. Surprised only two D2 schools are moving up Mercyhurst and West Georgia. WTF is taking Indy so long? To be fair there are 18 days left until June 30.th.

With all this chatter about UT Arlington possibly jumping to the Missouri Valley Conference, I'm not sure how viable the WAC is long-term.
@Lawomenshoops2 ай бұрын
If the WAC stay together after the 2024-25, and adds a ton of D2 schools they have to go through 4 more years of waiting for those D2 schools to be active members. If at anytime from now until 2029, a schools leaves, they could be in trouble to maintain their conference status. But, I think the NCAA will grant a waiver/extend the grace period until the D2 schools finish their reclassification period. Yes, even a 2 year extension. So, if the WAC adds 5 D2 schools who start their reclassification in 25-26, but the WAC but loses CBU or any other schools in 25-26, the NCAA won’t shut them down as a conference. Obviously, the question is, can the WAC find 5 schools? I picked 5 so, the WAC would be 12 schools if no teams left. They can’t just add one or two schools 25-26 1st year grace period 26-27 2nd year grace period 27-28 waiver by NCAA 28-29 waiver by NCAA

Interesting, seems as there are tiers based on the conferences. 5 in tier 1, 4 in tier 2, and everybody else. Not shocked that the top 2 tiers likely make up most of the schools that make the big dance
