Keep in mind, these two are performing this assessment during the practice practical so it won't be as polished. Our goal is showcase their thought process through a head to toe exam. Think of it like a ride along. Hope you find it helpful!

Thanks Rhett! We're not going for perfection. I'm using this as an opportunity to guide students through the flow of an assessment and in turn providing a visual for future students. I think there's value in showcasing the thought processes of our students in real-time.

Allow the background noise to be a source of stress. Or turn on captions so you can read what we're saying as well. Hope that helps.

It's common throughout our area. We've transitioned from King tubes to iGels. Even the ORs are transitioning from LMAs to iGels.

Very helpful video for the upcoming practical! I do have a question. I'm following along with my Patient Assessment Sheet. After the head to toe, do we pick up at Environmental? Then OPQRST, AMPLE, Vitals, Diagnostics, and Reassessment? I assume yes, but just want to be 100% positive. Thank you so much!

Hey Andrew, consider any environmental emergencies immediately prior to the head to toe. After the head to toe, lets package the patient for transport.

This is an excellent instructional video. The only thing that is missing is no mentioning of the part called Washer that is such an important part positioned right above the "two teeth." So this video would work as a good reminder to people who are already trained on O2 tanks but not for the beginners.
@ChicagoEMTTraining
@ChicagoEMTTraining Ай бұрын
On the contrary. Leaks that are caused by a missing O ring should not be the norm and would most likely be found after hundreds of O2 tank checks. If someone is coming across that many O ring issues, then we have a separate issue.

My last formal, comprehensive first aid training was Red Cross Multimedia training in the eighties. I'm guessing that was before you were born. I was on the fire crew at work for ten years, but I never had formal, comprehensive first aid training. I think they showed us how to set up an oxygen bottle once and how to use an AED once, and I had both of those trainings in 2000 or 2001. Do you think there's any value in my buying one of these and having it available based only on the training that I've gotten from a few KZfaq videos? I'm inclined to think that I shouldn't try to buy this stuff until I can get some formal, hands-on training somewhere. I suspect that such training is going to be hard to find. I'm disabled, so I can't sit through an all-day class on a Saturday. The idea seems pretty simple, but I'm still hesitant to carry anything that I'm not really trained to use.

Hi Rhett, This is a very condensed version of our patient assessment video which you can find on the channel as well. The "L" stands for last oral intake.
@Rhettnorris09
@Rhettnorris09 Ай бұрын
@@ChicagoEMTTraining Right, I definitely understand all of that but on the notepad he put down 10 minutes in reference to the SOB from playing Tennis under the L… so I was wondering what else L could’ve stood for besides Last oral intake since it obviously wasn’t being used for that here.

Thank you for the help. It looks like alien technology when you don't know what to do but once you know, it's very simple. It seems intuitive in terms of how the regulator lines up with the tank. Now that I know this, I can help my Mom if she goes somewhere.

l work ER as an RT...we get patients in all the time with these airways. as an old school RT they all seem kind of junky.l dont feel like the patient gets good ventilation without a good old ETT.in our area emts cant intubate..only paramedics can...and theres a shortage of paramedics so we have these junky airways all the time.

What is the flow rate on the high pressure quick connect? You have that as a high pressure and tree as a low pressure. Would the low pressure set at 25 lpm be equal to the high pressure or no?

PS: would you do all this, just like you showed here, but then also attach oxygen?
@franciscoh6210
@franciscoh6210 4 ай бұрын
I'm ab a month late, but supplemental oxygen would be delivered at 15L/min thru your typical oxygen tubing connected to the bag-valve assembly, just like you would with the mask rather than the I-Gel. You could ventilate on room air, but you would expect oxygenation to be not very effective.

amateur question, forgive me...What if you were doing all this to a patient, but the reason they were not breathing is because they had something stuck in their trachea (wind pipe)? like a grape or nut? Wouldn't you doing all this make it worse? How would we know? Thank you.
@jaymarvel2424
@jaymarvel2424 4 ай бұрын
Before you insert an airway, you check if the airway is patent. If there is something in the airway (FBAO) then you would try and remove it with a laryngoscope and McGill forceps. (At least thats how I have been taught)

when you open up the tank and it makes all that loud noise at 10 liters per minute, is it the dial on the PEEP device that controls the amount of that pressure? and why did you refer to it as "centimeters of water" ? thank you
