What if i told you that you can tell us what the book is before you spend a minute with a preface and background for it? What if i told you all that info can go at the end of naming the book and your information is still correct.

Wheel of Time? You are at book 4? Hahaha now it will soon reach the slog… you will understand what it means… you never read worse book than those. 😂 especially book 10. It’s a literary big question mark : “WHY”😂😂 and I read it back then when it was released.

I'm reading 'The Five Warrior Angels' trilogy by (fellow booktuber) Brian Lee Durfee. The shortest book is almost 800 pages, and the longest book is over 1000 pages. Its been a very long time since I've immersed myself in a giant series, but I'm enjoying it a lot!

No idea why people are being so hostile in these comments, makes me scared to venture into any fantasy book fandom even though I adore them (already in the ASOIAF fandom).

Although I enjoyed both series some of the similarities are too much. At times it felt like I was reading the same love story only with different characters and circumstances. Fundamentally it was too much the same and that repetition can get boring. IMO we are all okay with the repetition because we loved it so much the first time. 😂 Still, it doesn’t excuse the author cheating, so to speak, on writing using the exact same recipe as before.

its kinda shocking out of all these lists on youtube they omit classic fantasy writers, like Edgar Rice Burroughs, Fritz Leiber, Karl Wagner, Poul Anderson, Michael Moorcock and Robert e Howard. you should read Robert E howard's Conan the Cimmerian, Solomon Kane and Kull of Atlantis, because alot of fantasy tropes trace back to Howard. Howard and Tolkien are the fantasy genres foundation, without Howard, fantasy would be a very very different genre. Howard's "The Shadow Kingdom" from 1929 can be said to be one of the first proper fantasy/sword and sorcery stories.

Great picks! I love this video, between the artwork (your stick figures are definitely better than mine) and the cat size comparison 😂 You need to continue Licanius though! It's one of those series where things set up in book one pay off in book three, so better to read sooner rather than later while the details are still fresh.

I think I may have made the mistake of watching The Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime before reading the books. I assume now if I were to read the books I would picture the characters from the show (and I didn't really like any of the characters in the show). I may have spoiled a wonderful series. Loved the Stormlight Archive (minus Shallan's multiple personalities)...and looking forward to the Dec release of book 5. Picked up The Shadow of What Was Lost based on your recommendation and will be giving it a go. Thanks!
@MrTugwit

The Wheel of Time "movie" is garbage compared to the books. Read just the first couple of chapters in The Eye of the World, and you will think the "movie" writers purposely botched the series.
@FunFantasyBooks
@FunFantasyBooks 5 күн бұрын
Well, I also watched the TV series before starting WOT (currently on book 5!) and although yes, part of me keeps imagining the characters like the series, they are really different in the books! And well, better haha

@@FunFantasyBooks Peter Jackson did a great job in his 3 "The Lord of the Rings" movies. Amazon's writers and directors were obviously too lazy to even read "The Eye of the World". What would you do if you were hired to write a script for a series as long as WOT? They probably looked up a plot summary on the internet 😄
