That's a lot of effort for a door knob but is so well executed. It looks great, wish I could afford the time as I just buy mine and you can tell!! Bravo.

Now I know why they cost so much.
@boreoff13 сағат бұрын
yes right, although they are made with machines mostly like cnc's and leather cutters/press with predrilled holes, pre-cut canvas etc so it doesn't take that long compared to me...so profit margins are high....thanks for watching, cheers

Beautiful wood. There really isn’t anything better than a great piece made from natures materials. I have wanted to get into woodworking forever and have never made the move. I am very interested in it.

yeah for a couple of small mortices like that just cut with a chisel as quicker like you said...good practice too - what wood is that ?

@natbug3891Ай бұрын
Wrong wrong wrong, you do not use water for diamond stones, buy a pacific diamond Stone Lubricant, reason is for so it doesn't rust your diamond stone, if you are on a low budget then get a car windscreen cleaner it is just as good, also buy a good quality diamond stone because it will last long and will be flat, make sure you use the whole surface.
@boreoffАй бұрын
That’s the advice I gave in the comments already but thanks anyway…it is a DMT so high quality but actually it’s not necessary to use the whole surface unlike Japanese or oil stones. Cheers
@natbug3891Ай бұрын
@@boreoff ok well, I can only take a pinch of salt that you've already mentioned to someone other comment, I use DMT as well so good choice, but you should really use the whole surface so you can wear the diamond stones down evenly, I have found out the hard way, same with wet or oil stones.

Thank you! This must have been my problem when I bought a diamond plate and couldn’t get my chisel sharp. I was doing it freehand. I assumed I had pushed too hard and rubbed all the diamond off.
@LaroeteАй бұрын
Removing the burr like that dulled the chisel, you need to work it with a leather belt back andd forth until u cant feel it anymore
@SergioPena20Ай бұрын
lol. It’s not difficult to sharpen a chisel.
@nicebubblesАй бұрын
Running out of arm hair!?!?!.
@GuitarGuy057Ай бұрын
Using wood to remove the burr is bad practice. Use your stone then strop it.
@chrischen106Ай бұрын
Helps a lot, but not sure why the left side and right side are different?
@boreoffАй бұрын
Thanks. One is just a hard door stop and the other, for the 2nd door that closes over the first, via a rebate, has a spring closure. Krenov’s book describes it too. Make sense?
@chrischen106Ай бұрын
@@boreoffThanks for the reply (sorry, haven’t read Krenov’s book yet). However I will most likely open the door independently , guess it make more sense to have both of them with spring closure?
@boreoffАй бұрын
yes if you want them to open independently of each other, then yes both of them with spring closure...the Krenov book is really inspirational and I also really like his taste and philosophy in general...cheers
@chrischen106Ай бұрын

@gavinlundquist4287Ай бұрын
Leather strop will give it a beautiful razor finish. Put some compound on it and pull backwards on the bevel and the backside of the edge. It will wiggle the burr back and forth until it comes off clean.

Sorry but if u cant holf a chisel to sharpen it u cant use it to cut either. Cus if u cant hold the angle whilst sharpening it u cant hold the angle whilst cutting either....this is purely a skill issue. Unless ur trying to sell this jig this video is just dumb
@Sideline1013Ай бұрын
Sooo... You used a makeshift sharpening jig. Cool story, those have existed since forever.
