I tried sticking my suction cup in boiling water for about 15 seconds to soften it up. Will give that a try first. Then maybe this method from Bob. I have tried velco but the camera wiggles back and forth. Thanks for the information.

My dashcam uses 3M stickers, not suction cups. It still falls off in the summer heat. The magnet idea is a good one, but the weak point is the 3M stickers.

M3 tape won't stick to the suction cup from heat high in the summer. Do you have suggestions besides super glue?

I just posted that my dashcam only uses 3M and it falls off constantly in the summer. I will try epoxy gluing the magnet to my dashcam mount.

Have tried this - sounded a good idea, but the magnets were too heavy, and in hot weather, the glue on the sticker softened, and the dashcam fell off. I have now found the answer, when the plastic suction disc becomes stiff, causing it to part company with the windscreen, is simply to pop it in a cup of hot water. 5 minutes later, retrieveit, dry it off, and reattach to the windscreen. The plastic has been miraculously re-invigorated, and the suction pad stick like glue again!

This is a nice concept. But practically very bad. 1 - It might ruin your camera 2 - although its strong, screws are stronger 3 - it blocks the ability to mount on other things that don't have magnets.. which is crazy. I've been mounting mine on a weightless lightstang and its been so useful. Covering the 3/4 thread doesn't seem like a good idea. 4 - quick release exists and make for a much better mod

A lot of cameras now use magnets. My new camera I just bought the Insta 360 it uses magnets. I don't think magnets are gonna be an issue. Magnets may have been an issue with the old style cameras, Canon , Nikon, etc.

Yuo. You can leave the little base piece attached to the tripod and then click it on and off as required - and I suspect it holds even more strongly than the magnet. But this is a clever alternative - some people like to keep the base piece on the P3 all the time to provide more of a handle.

Ver nice idea, thank you.. Let those young kids do negative talk, they all buy there stuff. Idea, just make u plastic or alu piece to drill the hole in for 1/4" crew. And glue the magnet to that plate. Or, use the original big 1/4" plastic screw and glue the magnet against this. No drilling needed this way.

Sir, with all due respect, I strongly disagree with you showing the world such a flimsy DIY method. I know the magnets you used are strong, but others may not use magnets as strong as yours and an accidental karate chop to the top part can trip and ruin the camera, especially when the gimbal is the weakest point of the Pocket 3. The recommended method is to use a quick release system (for example Ulanzi F38 system, or PGYtech Quick Release clamp and plate). I know you mentioned multiple times that you do not recommend others to follow your method, but the fact that you made a video about this and put it on KZfaq..........

I like what you did with the magnets. it just points out that DJI should've made the Pocket three with a magnetic mount just like the action 4. and the USB and Tripod mount should be build into the main unit. why have such a big attachment just for a USB port and tripod mount. and if you are going to have an attachment, the attachment could be a quarter that size. and the built in battery also sucks. I am hoping that the Action 5 will have the one inch sensor.
