Brilliant interview! I love these two! Excited for the upcoming Japan series. The 2009 documentary film "The Cove" drew international attention to the Dolphin Drive hunt in Taiji, Japan (which also has a long connection to whaling) I am very curious.

Learning to sail all 4 seasons in the Great Lakes of America ( I did ) is even worse than learning sailing in the Med I've been told.
@OceanCruisersКүн бұрын
yeah i have been told that can be a challenge also, i think any cruising ground where you have multiple weather changes every day is a good place to learn

@@OceanCruisersan old friend inherited a Bristol 41 from his gandpa early 2001. He sort of grew up on it but still had much to learn. I would tag along often as I could and learned a bit myself. A number of times he would talk me into heading out into Lake Michigan in 25+ gusts to 40 just to learn handling the rougher stuff. Now at 55yrs old I would definitely say Hell no to rough weather!!! I grew up on boats off the Florida Gulf Coast. I don't ever remember even being scared way back then.

40:40 Funny, you're unpleasantly surprised by the costs of that 3m hose, but pay easily $210 on plastic navigation lights that should not costs more than $40 I'm realdy used to the fact when you go into a marine-shop everything is all of a sudden quadrupled in price...

Great video, but one question. A matter of safety concern. Why use lithium batteries? And on a sailboat. Hope that battery compartment has a atmospheric vent and is waterproof. We all know what happens when lithium batteries get wet. Expensive and to me, yes, I have worked this end of the field, not worth the risk. Just my opinion. But again, thanks for the upload.

White hulls are boring . But I’m at the dock with all the ac I can use . And my wife is off my ass about being hot . So theres that . If I picked a performance cat. It would be a specific boat . You may have already answered this somewhere, but what was the total for the entire refit excluding your time of course. Just materials?
@OceanCruisers5 күн бұрын
the boat cost USD 130, i spent 40k in total, including flights and food and car rental, yard time etc for the refit. A few of the items were sponsored, batteries, solar system, sails, lines, highfield etc which had a value of around 45k. in total transparency the sponsored items were not necessary to get out on the water

Great job An🎉dy! ! çan't believe that I sat through 2hrs. of boat repairs but then I can ɓareĺy believe that ÿou got through all of this work in 6 months! ! have just one question àboùt all this and it concerns the safe storage of those lithium batteries. I have read that lithiums need to be contained within a steel box for obvious reasons and so I am worried about the fire safety of the wooden box that you have stored them inside at the moment. Fortunately I'm pretty sure that you could quite easily ìnsulate the existing box with sheet steel plates. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this.
@OceanCruisers12 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. A steel box wouldnt do much, its the gases that stream out of them if they explode thats the problem. unless the box is air tight to high high pressure it wouldnt serve any purpose really
