Any precision is possible with unlimited money and resources . Heres a challenge: Use 1 or 2 smartphones and their video data out of a moving car and get the coordinates of trees at the street with a precision of 10 cm. Whats realy relevant is the relation between money + time + n-data points + precesion

Here's a really easy idea that nobody thought of.. Fly some moderately sized bit of interesting heavy canopied terrain, then go walk all over the place under the canopy. I'd sign up to watch that!

This looks like a Non-repetitive path scanning for L2. I'm not using it due to this kinda bad result. Total different story for the repetitive scan path, which is very accurate and precise even without smoothing and optimization. I'm super satisfied with my L2 unit in rep mode. I've noticed also a thing: i'm always using an Emlid RS3 set as base when using lidlar, with short baseline data precision increase drammatically, and also doing PPK. Your dataset looks acquired in worst condition possible.

I'm working with Dylan on slowly getting outfitted with my drone equipment, and getting your Rock Robotics gear is right up there... baby steps first. ; ) I met you a couple of times in person at Dylan's seminars in Dublin last year and in Los Altos. I live in Montana, but I'm down here consulting on a couple of sites. I asked you if Rock could come out with a handheld only Lidar for use on ground only 3D Modeling. You said to bug your staff about having that available as well as the aerial equipment. Have you decided on offering that option yet? I'd like to get into Lidar using your gear and online service, but I'm not quite ready to buy all of the drone equipment that I need. Appreciate your consideration on this. I have a couple of questions too on using your on-site GPS station that we buy from you if we don't have a local CORS station available. Lastly, I'm in the San Jose area for a couple of more months before I head back up to Big Sky country. Did you record this footage in the San Mateo area? Just curious. I cant find some specs on the sensor…. At what speed can you fly this? I have a Type 1 VTOL/Fwd Flight acft (over 75 lbs) that flys at 43kts. I map LARGE areas of land. Will this be to fast for the LiDAR if taken from 2000 AGL?

Dear Harrison, I work at ICMBIO and IBAMA, both are federal environmental protection agencies in Brazil. It would be the equivalent of the USFS and NPS in the USA. We have made a lot of progress in recent years in terms of acquiring an RPAS fleet, today we have more than 150 M2EA, 10 300RTK Matrices, 1 EBEE with multispectral sensor and finally we acquired a Trinity Pro for mapping purposes. Our efforts are mainly focused on protecting the Amazon Forest and some other biomes in Brazil. Our next step in the evolution with RPAS is to learn how to properly use and take better advantage of Lidar. We are making use of DJI's L1, but we are not satisfied. Is there any possibility that RockRobotics could send a Lidar unit so we could test it in our operations? We are a large dissemination and reference hub in Brazil regarding the adoption of RPAS technologies and I am sure that support in our mission to protect the Amazon would generate significant impact and dissemination of your solution.

Why would you solicit people to join this if you are in reality exclusionary. I reached out offering to help you in any way I could and you never responded. I demoed your Rock Cloud and offered legitimate, candid feedback based on my years of experience. I honestly thought that it wasn't ready for prime time, wasn't accurate, and I offered evidence. Although you did respond with a generic thanks, you then banned me from one of your administered chat rooms. You are being disingenuous by inviting everyone into your circle. You just want to ignore the truth and try to sell more products (of which many are good which makes it all very sad).

I'd love to see a cemetery (or at least part of one) where there's plenty of tree canopy. It'd be great to see how the SLAM works at mapping monuments/headstones despite trees.

For references, the drone is at least 10k, and the lidar is around 30k. So he hasnt made any money yet, but of course he could do this 1 more time and have made 100% roi

I believe you should have done the comparison with optimised on and smoothed off. I would really like to see that comparison. Is the R3 data completely raw or has it been optimised or strip aligned etc?

We're already impressed with the V1 we purchased for vegetation management for the energy sector almost two years ago…but you guys have went and knocked it out of the park once again with ROCK R3 V2. We are already discussing the upgrade…well worth it!
