The best bit about this is how it creates doubt in your mind about Dante here. Is this even him? He's so uniquely silent, seemingly far more vicious than usual, but it's only later when you realise that's just how Dante always looks to his enemies, he's a force of nature, only really talking to those he deems worthy (or those he wants to ridicule). And for once to see that from the opposite side, is pretty terrifying

Interesting fact: In much versions of DMC4 Dante didn't have blood on his face when he turned around after shooting the priest.

I believe Nero doesn't even know that he himself is part demon, he only realises it when his arm reacts to Dante and becomes that monstrous thing. Plus, he had no idea that most of the Order's knights were humans empowered by demon energy, so to him humans are probably *that* strong.

I think it’s less he was getting annoyed and Dante’s fight or flight was going into full effect, either that, or it was Dante’s blood resonating with Nero’s (signalling to him that they were related) as Dante seems to immediately start acting more like a cheery uncle

I like how Dante's characters grow throughout the games (albeit some is caused by inconsistency of the writers). In DMC 3 (chronogically the first installment) Dante is kinda punkish and not as composed as his older version. In DMC original, he becomes more composed but still funny and playful. In DMC 2, he becomes more stoic. This is due to the writing's consistency but if we look at it deeply, this is the same Dante who killed Nelo Angelo/Vergil in previous installment. Maybe he's still in grief. DMC 4 is sugar Daddy Dante. Obviously he's already more experienced to the point that anything barely flinches him anymore. You could tell he could defeat the entire Order of Sword by himself but chooses to give Nero some spotlight. DMC 5 is peak Dante. He doesn't even think twice to kill Urizen when he eats the Qlipoth fruit, knowing that Urizen is beyond redemption without his human side. It hurts him deeply but he bear it so Nero wouldn't have to kill his father.
