From the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. we are experiencing the early stages of drought. Flowers are not doing well, but my imagination is.

Sorry you can’t hear me. It seems fine on my device. You can turn on the captions so you can read my words. I am not sure of your question however you can use China marker over acrylic and it won’t smear as it is insoluble.

It's also the first time I've seen your work, and I, too, love it. There were so many stages where I, as the artist, could have quite happily felt it was complete. I even loved it with all the what you referred to as 'busyness' when you had first filled in the background with the deep purple. Thankyou!

I started painting 7 years ago after retirement, looking at tutorials and trial and error. I have done some things I like a lot, but most are representational painting, but I would like to do things that are more me than copying something, beautiful though that may be. I love your approach and it opens up some paths for me to follow to find my own style. Love your work.

Why would anyone want to write things you cant read? I really dont understand.
@pattscrivenerartist7 күн бұрын
For many reasons. It is an art form in itself, for privacy reasons, meditation, to give mystery to a piece of artwork are a few. I really like the look of it added to my artwork to break up space and add interest. I don’t necessarily want the viewer to be able to read my thoughts. Here is a great blog post to check out. thisissofun.com/asemic-writing/
@ginainfantino4116 күн бұрын
Adding to the previous response, it is also a form of mark making to add interest to your piece. It especially looks very interesting set in the background. It’s an art thing.

Thanks for the info on the emphasis! As for the pronunciation, is it sta-bee-lo or sta-bill-o I have a KZfaq channel and am always trying to make sure I have the pronunciation correct for products regardless of how it’s generally said in North America 😁 For one, Arches watercolour paper is pronounced ‘arsh’ not ‘arch’ 👍🏻

Thanks Patt. A great vid on this technique. I love using this asemic writing on my cold wax and oils. The surface is nice and thick to handle this with a squewer scape. I also have old book pages as well as dictionary that look good in collage. Another thing I’ve found is old dressmaking patterns that are good in my cold wax and oil work. I’m still on the CWM and loving it still.
@pattscrivenerartist9 күн бұрын
Yes, it is so easy with cold wax and oil to scratch back. I use sewing patterns too - very good tissue. I haven’t had the best luck with embedding collocate in my cold wax and oil paintings. I think I am too aggressive and end up,pulling it up or gouging through it. I find it best to use it as my under layer with acrylic medium.

I am really struggling with leg shapes. This video has been my guide for a few weeks now and I am really happy with the progress I've made from your excellent tuition and tips, I just can't seem to make leg shapes look good. Maybe I will put the brush down and practice on paper for a while 😪
I noticed you did not frame your pictures in this group. Do you frame only a few and leave that up to the buyer? Do you have any info with price points both framed and not frames? Thank you so much!
@pattscrivenerartist13 күн бұрын
I do not frame my larger paintings as most of them go to galleries and I would have to mark it up to cover the gallery commission of 50% some galleries have framing also so it makes it better for them. Another reason is that frames get shop worn and need to be replaced. I use a square inch pricing model on a sliding scale.
