After the speaker was back in place, it would have been good measure to test the amp to make sure all connections are working, then place the back cover on.. Also, the tubes should have been removed after the back panel was taken off. Very easy to be buying a new tube if you smack it.

That little Fender hand-wired Champ is a killer match for the many tones available from this classic Gibson LP Special with P-90's! I'm trading a superb 60's Standard LP in the "ICE TEA" finish for one of these rascals in a left-handed model! Believe it when I say that the hand-wired version of the FENDER Champ absolutely sounds better than the circuit board non-handwired version! The cost is well worth paying for the hand-wired version! Congratulation on finally getting your replacement new GIBSON LP SPECIAL in TV YELLOW! Thanks for sharing your opening of your guitar with everyone! Enjoy it and play the heck out of it all the time! 🙂 Best Regards, Mac Baker

Great story, I love hearing these things. I found an original 1968 Vox Clyde McCoy on eBay of all places for £210 with a "buy it now" a couple of years ago. I'm still mystified by it as it was from a guitar shop I got it from, I asked them to send me a photo of the guts and when I seen the "halo" inductor and ducati sweep cap et al I knew it was real!. Who knows why they didn't have it listed for £1200-1500?. These gems are still out there to be found!.

I have a red '96 -(MN6 serial #) Bought new in London from a guitar shop. Think price was circa £200 = $300 at the time. Interestingly it has the black Fender label but not, and never did have, any Squier markings on it.

Glad you put that "Alnico" speaker back in the Champ, the older ones had the same design speaker which has a truer cleaner sound, given time those alnico speakers( horshoe magnet) really open up and start singing. Best amp Fender makes.

I’ve got a 94/95 Squier series Tele (made in Japan) which I bought new as a university student. Cost me £190. Played it hard for a few years in a band then sat in the loft for over 25 years before I dusted it off and started playing it. Always thought I ‘only’ had a Squier so cool to realise it’s basically a standard Tele with cheaper electronics that can easily be upgraded. Need it setup better but still plays beautifully. Has also aged nicely with discolouration of the fretboard from finger oils and chips to the body (from when I played it hard). Could probably sell it for a good price, but was my first guitar so nice memories.

Another guy made a video about a MX Squier Strat he bought for $50 in the US from a pawnshop. It had been there for years! He researched & found that between, roughly 93 - 96, MX stamped Fender & Squier bodies, necks & electronics were sent to Mexico for assembly because of the fire at the manufacturing site, so you're spot on! Sounds great! I have 3 MX Teles. A well beat up 60th anniversary, black / yellowed maple from 2011, A 2017 STD & a 19 Player in butterscotch. I just bought a Z9 = 2009, Jimmie Vaughan Signature Strat! ❤ ! Same deal. US parts, assembled in Mexico.

I had one of those years ago. I really liked the neck on it. My understanding is that the bodies and necks were made in US or Mexico, but some of the hardware was Asian which reduced costs. Just what they used to say in the late 90s when I had one.

So just to be clear, when you said this is undoubtedly a real Fender, you're saying this is a Mexican made Fender, or MiM Correct? Not a Mexican Squire, even though it says that on the headstock, and the fact you called the Fender company and they verified it was a "Fender" which I also assume they also mean MiM. Correct?

Wow! My 1994 Telecaster is a dead match for yours! Same black Fender logo, serial # MN4 11310. I knew the minute I picked it up it wasn't a cheap feeling guitar! I bought it in a pawn shop. In fact I was so confident that I didnt even look it over that good & only noticed the Squire logo when I got home! lol I ran across your video tonight and thought holy shit this guys is a twin of mine. It's scary how close mine is to yours. What a SCORE! I got an MiM Tele!!!! I'm so glad I bought it, of course the weasel who runs the shop thought because it said Fender it was worth $400, but maybe this dude is smarter than I thought? I don't think so, I bought it considerably less! 😅

@@tommywattmusic I have a white 1994 Fender telecaster mim squier series and the serial number is MN412069. I bought it in Argentina in 1999 and paid 650 dollars for it. I've been looking for information about this guitar for years. What I can tell you is that the tuners look poor quality compared to other fenders. I changed the potentiometers because they were also of poor quality. The body is excellent!! The microphones sound very good, nothing to envy others I have played.

Sweet amp! I just scored a 1964 Vibro Champ myself and have been putting it through its paces. It still has the original Jensen alnico in it, but I'll probably look to swap it out and preserve it. That newer Jensen alnico sounds great in yours! Maybe I'll grab one of those too. Sounding great man, keep playing! It's a beautiful journey, cheers

Look out for the P10r "F" it will fit if you want more mid. I think they worked with Fender on an "F" series to get a clearer early break-up tone.

I have an off white 94. I've seen them referred to as "black label" Fenders. Also heard the same thing about American made bodies and necks sent to Mexico due to the fire. I also saw many places that say that these have the absolute best necks. I don't know about the electronics. All I know is mine is simply a pleasure to play and listen to.

Dude, your BD's 10/13? Mine's 10/12. I got a LP Std. 50's goldtop and had it replaced for finish flaking after a couple of months. The replacement had 10/13 as the date of completion on the warranty card. I double-checked via the stamped serial number on the headstock, and it was 10/13. It was one day off from my BD, 40 damn yrs apart 😂, but as close as I was gonna get just by pure luck. Would've been even better for you. 🍻👍

I just picked one up today(2-4-23) at a pawn shop for $89, because the sales guy thought it was just a regular Squier! It's a red stratocaster with a white pickguard and a really good, dark rosewood fretboard. I like it because it reminds me of Mark Knopfler, in the late 70s playing "Sultans of Swing". It needs a little TLC, but the neck is GREAT and I love it! Thanks for the video.

Yah; '94 - '95 I BELIEVE was the last of the Fender Squier Series. I have a '96 - '97 (MN7 serial #) Telecaster that just has "Squier by Fender" Made in Mexico (that my neighbor traded an early 70's Singer sewing machine for)...and it's the exact same guitar as yours (color and all). Pretty sure '98 - '99 is when they completely removed Squier from their Mexican facility. I like everything that has come out of Mexico (past and present)---they make very nice guitars. My neighbor gave me that guitar for Christmas because he knew I was a huge fan of MIM guitars. What a great guy!

I have a 93 mim standard Strat and a early 95 Squier series Strat. I like both of them, but the Squier series blows the doors off the standard. The neck is flamed, figured and just feels better. The body is more resonant and neck pocket fit is nearly perfect. The standard has a Squier and Fender stamp in the pocket, has a pretty sloppy fit and a normal neck. It was a crazy time at Fender in the early 90's If they still had stock hardware, the standard would win. The stuff they put on the Squier series is really poopy (industry term), but I've replaced everything on both of them and they are staying with me for now.
