Always good to see younger people really enjoying the old school stuff! If you’ve ever seen, “Married with Children”, Tim Conway (“The bald guy”) showed up in several episodes as, “Ephraim”, Peg Bundy’s father.

You are right in that it was normal (back then). My best friends were jewish and my brothers best friend was polish. We didn’t think anything of where we all came from

Growing up in the 70's, he helped expose to me how stupid, being predudice. It was popular because we all lived together, went to schools with each other, and grew up not knowing predjudice in our coumminty. Love one another

They were allowed to say things like that, because we all know it was for comedic effect and we weren’t all snowflakes back then!

Al Jolson sang Mammy in blackface. Mother Jefferson 😂 was the biggest lush. Lenny Kravitz's mother, Roxie Roker, played Helen in the spinnoff.

Those are not his funniest moments, at all! This show was hilarious and this clip was so underwhelming. I hope you find a better representation of George.

He never had Blue hair. He also wasn't a racist. He was a good man.caral McConner was playing a part that was popular among all races. People used to have a sense of humor. Nobody was really racist.

We grew up understanding that tv wasn’t reality, so nobody went looking to cancel anyone for acting out a part, no matter how controversial the story portrayed was. It was obvious to us that shows like Archie Bunker had a dual purpose- to entertain as well as educate, by promoting discourse. People today are way too thin skinned.

Don't you get it? The way you fight racism is you show how stupid it is. Make fun of it and call it out for how ridicules it really is. Not hide from it. That is what is going on with this show.

The comment that you were talking about the last time you heard the word fagg on TV recently was probably on Dallas Buyers Club and as far as the Polish and the Italians when they came over back then they were called wops which meant without papers. You couldn't put a show like this together these days because liberals just flat lose their minds about everything

I'm 62 years old and I watched a lot of Archie Bunker and All in the Family and back then people weren't so damn offended by everything they actually had a sense of humor. And the reason why he was getting away with all that back then as they told him that he could not bash Just One race so he said okay I will bash all Races and that's how he was allowed to do that

75 year old Black woman here. Watched every episode. It was seriously groundbreaking because it presented reality out loud. The laughter helped dull the rage. We had never ever heard these things spoken out loud. It came on during the evening, adult shows hours. There were a run of similar shows with controversial/uncomfortable dialogue. We all knew it was over the top.

Bunker is a German name but he calls the Germans krauts . Archy was the type who had to be hit over the head with the fact that people aren't that much different despite culture differences . Tha was solved by the Jefferson who moved across the street . Black owners of a laundry . George Jefferson was the polar opposite of Archie , he was just as stubborn a d racist toward white people .... and the Jews Chinese Italians Puerto Ricans and Germans . Though they always argued Archie and George became good friends . They did a spin off called the Jeffersons you should check out .

That's the thing. We've seen a lot of things before over long lives that come up again, and we know how things turned out. For example, nonstick frypans were being touted as wonderful forty years ago until they found out that the chemicals that made it nonstick weren't so healthy. So when my son started talking about nonstick pans, I wasn't enthusiastic because ten years from now they could find out that the chemicals being used now aren't healthy. Or how about the fact that we saw people standing in line for hours to get a loaf of bread when Russia was completely Communist, and those advocating Communism now have no idea of that or of the dissident camps or of the millions of people killed in the name of Communism. We've seen it and we don't want to see it again.

Archie was 50 in the 70s which means if he was alive he’d be close to 100. Archie was one view of America back then and his son in law was the other popular view. The Jefferson’s was a spin off and so was Maude. Just different American points and views in the 70s. Politics made into comedy to help reduce the riots of all topics.

My dad said that in the early 60s, right after he got out of the Air Force, he went to see Redd Foxx at a club. Dad was the only white person in the room, Foxx went off on him for twenty minutes, and it was the funniest thing he’s heard in his whole life. In fairness, he had the audience applaud my dad for being such a good sport, bought him a drink, and talked with him for a few, minutes after the show.

23:30 White people see it All popes were Italian until the Seventies , then a Polish pope! Absolute outrage!! My white ant-Catholic uncle had a joke: Hesat down a short glass of water, half full. Sprinklig salt in it, "Here come the whites. Sprinkling pepper, " Here come the blacks". Then he dipped A wet finger in the cup, calling "here comes the Pollack." It caused all the specks, BLACK & WHITE, to instantly move away. Lou was a prison guard. God rest his soul.

So you wont take all the solid evidence that Trump is a POS criminal, rapist, and conman but you are falling over yourselves about all he did for you but you cant name even three small things. And if you say tax breaks then youre one of the wealthiest people in America because they are the only ones that got the tax break, not the working class. So enjoy drinking your Koolaid and when one day you wake up and realise how useless and dangerous Trump is I hope you feel the guilt you should.

The black guy asked a question: "How is he allowed to say this on TV"? This TV show intentionally set it's goal on confronting racism in this country through comedy. When watching this show for the first time one must reminfd themselves that it wasn't nuch longer before the creation of All In The Family (1971) that the Civil Rights Act became law (1964) in this country. Hollywood set out to expose racism for what it was and tro educate Americans on the issue. This guy making this comment now exposesw how far back we has regreessed as a nation on the race issue. If anyone thinks that viewpoint is off base let me give you a name to put an exclamation point ont that comment "Donald Trump". A man and his supporters who I sincerely believe do not deserve to be breathing air. Things weren't exactly grand in those days, however, what is going on now is madness.
