He was and remains an inspiration to me, what he could throw together outdoors, on a camping gas ring, while pished out of his head, and his interactions with real people and real ingredients; a unique character.

I saw him as a kid with my parents at the Edinburgh book festival. He was incredibly charismatic and a phenomenal storyteller. He captivated an audience of all ages whilst polishing off two bottles of red. A true TV legend.

There we are…. No nastiness, but just the odd dig and swig. As a young married man, who knew a bit about cooking, to me, he was something of an inspiration. He plainly was a brilliant cook, and so many of us learned as much, and a whole lot more about the great art and necessity of cooking. Today, we may see on KZfaq, all the greatest cooks/chefs of the latter part of the last century and more recently, in their kitchens, cooking their favourite dishes, shouting at their Staff, and doing what people under pressure tend to do. Floyd did it too, but without malice. Great Man!
