Welches grape juice plus burgundy yeast equals something with very strong flavor, barely drinkable. Trust me....

Absolutely loved the presentation - you pulled together so many threads that I thought I knew and then put a whole historical overlay on it - fantastic. We are a Fiano grower/winemaker from Queensland's Granite Belt (high altitude and cool, decomposed granite soils) wine region. We have been growing and making Fiano for about 15 years and it thrives here. I love being in the winery during ferment and getting a nose full of Fiano! I have noticed that it really responds to season - sometimes overwhelmingly floral/fruit and then sometimes a little austere. Beautiful, beautiful grape and wine - like little balls of sunshine! I found most interesting that one of you described drinking the Coca Cola version tasting “white” like Mountain Dew and that the Mountain Dew tasted like Coca Cola.
@wineforthepeople
@wineforthepeople 7 сағат бұрын
Even more interesting was that Mountain Dew was literally made to mix with Bourbon! That was the O.G. idea for it!

Very cool wines, love the tastings you guys do. Little side note: paltrinieri radice is 100% Lambrusco di sorbara, not a cuvée of dolcetto etc. ;) I like that stuff and in Europe it’s only around 15-20 bucks. I can also really recommend the „bigger“ version of this called Grosso from the same producer. Keep it up guys

Mousiness can be both protein disintegration and hyperoxidation ;) More common we see in Australia is hyper-ox of low pH wines.

One thing that i didnt get was the fact that by blending in viognier(white variety) into syrah(red variety), the colour is getting darker not brighter. Did i understand that right? Why is it like that? Great content as always, kudos from germany!!
@ethanfrawley2889
@ethanfrawley2889 2 күн бұрын
@@michaelboegle1194 typically it’s because the amount of viognier is so minsicule that it doesn’t change the colour typically 1% to 5% at the very most and also depends on if it’s been co-fermented or blended as finished wine
@wineforthepeople
@wineforthepeople 5 сағат бұрын
There's actually a scientific reason for this - non-pigmented phenolics within the Viognier skins bond to side-groups of the anthocyanin pigment of Syrah - and these complexes remain soluble in the wine, rather than dropping out - as they would in a 100% Syrah-based ferment.
