Joep has retired since this video, a few years ago. He no longer supplies to the UK or outside of Europe. If by any chance you know somebody who is selling one of his engines/boiler kits i would be very interested to know 👍

i dont understand why my MSS loco ran so terribly. It never worked right and even after spending more than it actually cost on repairs and upgrades it still sucks

Also i think the boiler is rated for 60psi, the safety valve is set for 40.

I just installed the upgraded throttle as well, hope it fixes my primming issue as well when first starting up, water shoots out of the stack like a guizer, think this is why i also run out of water before fuel..

Hi. Before I start, curiously my Uncle in Law Alec Cairns is the person who got me into trains. He and his family immigrated from Scotland to Montreal in Canada before WWII. I am considering a Vincent. My concern are grades. How does it do with the single cylinder and grades?
@ChrisCairns592 жыл бұрын
Being a chain drive & geared loco the Vincent copes well with grades/gradients.
@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi2 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisCairns59 while I love the chain action on the Vincent I found a Lumber Jack. I still like the Vincent so perhaps back to saving… kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7GkZ5V_18-mo2Q.html

@@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi Well Done. If Graham has not warned you already watch out for the fire remaining in the smoke box on light up (not popping back to the burner) - it will distemper the top spring holding the cylinders on the engine block so they will fall off. I've put some stainless steel mesh over the cutout in the bottom of the smoke box.
@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi2 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisCairns59 thanks Chris. I had read someone online about that problem. I was careful to ensure the fire popped back. Putting fingers a little over the air holes in the burner helped the fire pop back good and fast. I like your wire mesh idea. Thanks.

When I was a lad, as far as I remember we only had meths burners . The last model I had, quite a few years ago, was a mammod traction engine and I think that was the first model I'd seen with solid fuel.

@ChrisCairns592 жыл бұрын
Had to change the gas jet to a proper No.5 (Clevedon Steam) and put a piece of thin brass rod in the lubricator's feed hole to reduce the flow, otherwise a good runner pulling some weight.
@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi2 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisCairns59 I have some Accucraft engines and the only mods I have done to them is a finer needle valve on the steam regulator and replacing control knobs with arms (not actually necessary but I like slightly finer control). I don’t have the Stirling but for my much simpler Mamod Mk 3 and my Mamod Brunel I’ve had to pack the cylinders to prevent pressure leaking there. That improved performance a lot. My main issue now is that the lubricator on the Brunel is too small. I have to reload half way through each run. Not a huge issue. It seems that as a smaller company their stuff needs some tweaking out of the box. But I love my Mamods.

Shows the beauty of the road and why it takes so long to travel it. Lovely piece taking you into the wilder side of Scotland. It also shows why the driver needs a “navigator” . The driver will only see the road with not much time to look and see the area, in safety anyway.. Like it Chris.

Thats why I prefer lifesteam! The sound of the gearbox is inappropriately to a steamtram. Your layout is so nice and the low temperature makes the steam very well visible. Thank yuo for sharing the video. P.S. I know the complexity of filming and handling the R/C the same time very well 😉
