I think the reason why the other commands didnt work is because after you say the initial wake phrases, you have to say those other commands when the wake LED is still orange, otherwise it's not active. I just tried saying "Hey, Arduino" and then "play music" right after in a few tests I completed, and it gave the correct serial output.

This is an excellent video. I've always struggled with utilizing the PlatformIO plugin with CLion, but doing it this way only has the extra step of needing to copy the compiled code to the Pico. There should be a way to automate this in CLion I would think maybe ... using a Bash shell script perhaps and passing it the path to the compiled code using a CLion Run configuration somehow where it would then copy it to the Pico. Also, wouldn't this method make it necessary to disconnet then re-connect the Pico every time you need to make changes to your code so that you can boot it with the button held down so that it shows up as a file system drive (/Volumes/RPI-RPI2) ?
@johnthas
@johnthas Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliments. I haven’t thought about the automation specifically because the Pico needs to be in the right state for the file transfer. Interestingly, the new Pico Debug Probe should make it possible to automate this step, although I haven’t purchased the probe (just because I have been busy). I will get a hold of the probe and see about that. Also, while the probe brings this capability to regular computers, if you happen to have the Raspberry Pi you can flash firmware directly using the debug pins on the Pico.

Hi Edmund, the engine isn’t compatible with the Uno R3 because of the processor. However, the R4 is almost here and it might be compatible.

@@johnthas hey bro, if I were to use the nano RP2040, can i add an extra microphone with it to get the extra distance for voice input, and does it have speaker stuff built in the board to have a sound return? or I have to add a speaker if I wanted to do that.

@@edmundfoo6385 It doesnt have a built-in amp for speakers, so you'd have to use an external amplifier circuit (can just cop one from amazon or something). In terms if the microphone, you can do that. I havent tested multiple microphones yet as I'm trying to just get the first onboard one to record audio.

Hi Raji. I had an existing setup where I setup a relay that I could control with a button and also over WiFi using the Arduino IoT Cloud. I wanted the ability to control it using voice if my hands were busy of if I couldn’t move. I used Edge Impulse to train the model and then deployed it to the board.

mhm maybe this is due to getting a foot in the door in Britain, but 27k GBP does not seem like a lot money to me at first glance. I'm from Germany and I know of people, who straight out of university and with very little practical experience make almost twice as much, working at insurance companies or consulting implementing CRUD in Java, Python and SQL. But personally I fear the Bore-Out in such a job and the embedded space seems a lot more versatile and challenging. Also from a monetary perspective I suspect the salary ceiling to be much higher in embedded. I have no doubt, that once you have established yourself in the UK as the guy, who can make stuff work, you can earn four times as much money or more.
@johnthas
@johnthas 2 жыл бұрын
A few things to clarify, but salaries are not uniform all over the UK. Salaries in London are not the same as salaries in Birmingham, for example. Neither are the expenses. Also, how much a person is paid depends on how much money the employer either has raised or is making in revenues. Secondly, a 4X salary on 27k pounds would put one in the top echelon of earners in the UK. Now, if everyone were in the top then nobody would be in the top. In summary, insurance companies would pay more because they are most likely in the financial center, but please note that median income in the UK is somewhere between 5K and 7K, last I checked.
@breakprismatshell6270
@breakprismatshell6270 2 жыл бұрын
@@johnthas According to the 2021 UK census median household income is £31,400 , though I don't know the average number of earning household members per household, so it should be somewhat around or a bit lower than that. With respect to 4x salary, I probably made it sound too simple. Establish yourself as the guy who can make things work = years of experience in a specialized area and being better than others. After all embedded engineers develop software for ESP systems, satellites, industrial facilities and so on. Unlike a lot of web development or cloud nonsense, these are absolutely business-critical applications. So under the assumption, that you are good and specialized: Why wouldn't you be in the top echelon of earners?
@johnthas
@johnthas 2 жыл бұрын
@@breakprismatshell6270 Yes, when you break it down that way it makes a lot more sense. I now earn about 100x what my salary was about 18 years ago. Also, household income isn’t personal income, and I expect that household income means you have at least 2 persons in the household. Also, statistics can be confusing. Income is high in London, but the UK has one or two of the poorest villages in Western Europe. It’s all the fuss about fishing rights and shut factories and Brexit. But, I digress. A dedication to excellence in his chosen field should see him rise to the top.
