Back in 1987,I was a sophomore in high-school,and after my 16th birthday,I remember looking at used cars one day,with my girlfriend..........and at that time,I lived in Piqua,Ohio,and we were down in Dayton,Ohio at a dealership,and I strongly remember walking up to a brand-spankin-new Grey 87 Mera,and like anyone else,I first thought it was a Ferrari-308 until I started reading the sticker on it,and I remember thinking "WTH is a "Mera"!?!? Lol. But I thought this car was so freakin cool,cuz it resembled a Ferrari 308 so closely! And if memory serves me correctly,I remember the asking price of it,was around $11,300-$11,500 as it sat and remember back then,thinking "OMG,this is an EXPENSIVE CAR for NOT being a "Ferrari"!!! Lol. Should've snatched it up while I had the chance,seeing as how they made so FEW of them!!! Lol.

Probably one of my favorite cars unfortunately picked it up from regular tune up maintenance etc went ok running rough I'll bring it back Monday it caught fire so lost her. Was it a fast car nope but would it handle steep gravel roads and snow absolutely. Could you easily sleep in the back primitive car camping oh hell yeah

The car looks great. The one suggestion I would make is to get the correct dual exhaust tips. It was one of the first things I did to mine when I bought it in 1986. The single exhaust on each side seems unfinished IMO.

I used to work at a shop here in Canada and we used to do fiero/Ferrari conversions, the body kits we used were manufactured in Mexico and we never put Ferrari badges on them but we supplied them in a plastic bag for customers to install

You missed a great opportunity to address some details. How do the pop up headlights work? I assume they're under the black hood vents. They are not on the Ferrari. Were all the cars based on the four cylinder cars or are there any V6 cars roaming around? That would be interesting because the six cylinder Fiero engines put out similar torque numbers to the original car. Not HP numbers... But the original car is not exactly fast my modem standards. Even more interesting perhaps, would be a comparison between both original cars to determine which if any, is the better handling car. Build quality would be another great comparison, for Ferrari's of this era were known to be a little suspect. Cardboard behind the headliner, door cards and parcel tray were not no common. Remember Enzo built road cars mostly as a way to fund his real passion, Ferrari's race team. None the less, very cool car. Lastly speaking to the Fiero community, if anyone knows of a clean later formula car, manual with a 3.8 swap... I'm all ears! Lol. That's the Holy Trinity of F cars. Ask me how I know, I almost bought one, but the owner lent it to his son for graduation... That didn't end well. 😅

A buddy's Dad bought a new 65 Mustang 4 speed and 4 barrel 289. It was fun on Hwy 280 San Jose, while under construction, nice memories. 😀

I like and appreciate 100% original cars but I'm not one of those snobs that looks down their nose at anything that isn't exactly original, I've met a few at car shows before and I'm like Yawn ! Anything different to me is interesting I like to see other peoples take on their restomods. Tod I think this looks great mate😎 I bet it goes like stink with that big American lump under the bonnet ! Thanks for posting this 👍 I watch a channel here in the UK called Retropower who put a video out every Sunday evening and you get to see the complete process of each project, they have the perfect mix of top traditional craftsmen and modern tech guys also at the top of their game and the most important thing passion ! I love the tail lights on these cars. I am sure I probably had a matchbox or hot wheels of this car when I was a kid.

Best of 2 era's, the great looks of the 1950's Jags and the reliability of a more modern V8. Pretty cool
