Hey, love your content. Helping very much with printing and casting. Just a quick questions, what are your rapid burn stages out for vintage?
@dawnphantom243922 сағат бұрын
Over my years of experience using Power Resins Dark I can confirm that the prongs will bend after a fresh print. Be warned, after 24+ hours, it becomes far more rigid and will absolutely snap instead of bend. As I'm currently using it with the Pruse SL1 Speed, my burn times are 80 seconds initial and 16 seconds per layer. But you mentioned 30 seconds initial and 6 seconds per layer? Are you sure about these times? Because I would love to get much faster prints, but I don't want to lose quality in the process. Do you think my burn times are too long?

Hi CMC thanks for the feedback and again a well made experiment,test and trials. I’ve got a question if you don’t mind? When your using your printers with bluecast x1v2, do you use a certain release liner for your resin tray or do you use the factory brand for that certain printer? Bluecast recommendations are elegoo’s FEP 2.0 What’s your opinion on this or do you follow suit? Some might say n-fep, acf,fep 2.0 etc are just sales tax tics and they just the same with a different name and colour (acf)😂 I do believe FEP 2.0 by elegoo. Makes a difference. Thank you and can’t wait for your next one. 😊

I've really been enjoying your channel. Do you share the print settings you use for testing each resin somewhere in your ecosystem? I know the one printer is a closed system so it uses its own settings. Power Resins doesn't have settings for the Prusa SL1S on its website. We have one at work but wouldn't try a resin without at least a starting point...

Hello, your videos are very interesting and teach a lot. I would like to ask a question, do you need to put that yellow wax that you showed in order to UV dry it?
@ClearMindJewellery9 күн бұрын
Not sure what you mean by "need to put that yellow wax that you showed din order to UV dry it". EasyCast 400 does need a 30 minute post UV cure for best results.
@RRSF099 күн бұрын
Thanks for the review, I've been using the WAX and love the print, my Phrozen Mini 8K has no problems with the adhesion either, in fact it is pretty much perfect as it adheres perfectly and the release of the prints is very easy.
@ClearMindJewellery9 күн бұрын
The adhesion has greatly improved with the new wave of engrave build plates. Last time we tried it the adhesion issues were silly.

How do you think this compares to Power Resin Vintage? Which would be better for printing details?
@stevenjus226611 күн бұрын
id say vintage, and the casting is much better too
@ClearMindJewellery10 күн бұрын
Depends on the details. Thin filagree and items that require structure or unique supporting, use vintage. Items that have debossed or embossed details like lettering, use Bluecast XOne.

As a new designer, about to start printing, my first 3-D prints, which is the best resin you do recommend that covers all fields
@ClearMindJewellery12 күн бұрын
It’s coming to a point that a lot of resins are getting focused down, as it’s becoming harder to do everything well as more techniques are becoming mainstream (example: finding one resin that can do large prints, print in place trees, and stone setting would be a tremendous undertaking.) However, some resins that cover the most of the gambit would be power resins vintage on the higher end as it can do larger objects, smaller filigree style objects and stone in-place casting, although we have yet to fully test the stone in-place casting capabilities ourselves. A good quality lower budget will be apply lab work cyan as this is an inexpensive workhorse that can do print in place trees, large objects, as well as small detailed objects. Monocure 3D burn away is not bad if you value time above doing larger objects. However, if you have a niche that you specifically work in for your business, I would recommend investigating other resins that are more suited to that niche.

Very cool stuff. What would be your approach to make this ring into many different sizes for casting?
@ClearMindJewellery12 күн бұрын
As the rings are made with wax wire it’s simple to make them in multiple sizes when doing the wax work. Doing the resizing post casting would lead to breaking the illusion of the design or a lot of carving work.

Our large wheats and tunnels or cast and silicon bronze. As are the majority of our tests, as most the items get re-melted after the video has been up for a couple of weeks. The figure featured at the end of this video is cast in sterling silver.

Thanks for taking the time to make and share this video. I know it's a lot of work. Sorry if I missed it, but is there no PC based slicing software for this machine? It's all baked into the machine itself? It really seems half baked, with the slicer putting all of the prints dead center on the build plate and lacking any way to print more than one model at a time. The resin heater system is great and I'm looking forward to the day that all resin printers come with a heater by default. The vat choice is very strange. I'm pretty sure the original Form SLA printers used a similar silicone separation layer. The inexpensive and midrange MSLA printers seem to have no issues with PFA release films. The choice they made seems ill advised. I couldn't tell in the video, but it looks like the $300 upgrade long life vat may use a standard PFA or FEP film. If so then their choice to use a transparent silicone lined glass vat as standard is ridiculous. I guess one upside is that the vat probably won't leak resin. I see two or three standout features that would have me even consider this machine, but the downsides are just too much, especially when you factor in the price. I would love to see how prints from an Elegoo Mars 4 DLP printer compare to the ones this makes. I assume they use the same DLP light engine, which means that the Mars 4 DLP would definitely have the resolution disadvantage since it's got a substantially larger build area and thus the voxels will be larger. I just don't know that $9k is worth not having to dial in resin settings, especially when you're locked into only using PowerResin resins. Also, the touchscreen looked really laggy or unresponsive a few times in the video. Maybe a firmware update will help some of the issues this machine has.
@ClearMindJewellery9 күн бұрын
Yes there is a PC based software however as an Apple based studio we didn't try it and it's extremely basic. You can use other slicers or use the onboard slicing software. As you mentioned the onboard slicing software can still use some updates. The $300 long life vat is with FEP and silicone but we have not tested it. The DLP unit is different. The touch screen is relatively fine although it could be better if slightly angled. Dan has really rough hands and occasionally has issues with touch screens.

Could be from not vacuuming the investment or maybe trapped gas, have you had successful casting with different resin?
@ClearMindJewellery19 күн бұрын
If you can clarify what you mean by bubbles that would be great as depending on the shape and texture of the issue that will mean different things; Most likely due to the location and material you mentioned its a resin/investment issue. Improper post processing of the prints leaving residue in the stone settings that interact with the investment later causing breakage. That would be my suggestion if your "bubbles" are heavily textured and a non specific shapes. However if they are soft edged roundish shaped, or indented tiny soft edge spots, that would mean something else.
@FordsBetter16 күн бұрын
Its a roundish shape, I'm getting them in my stone holes for a cuban bracelet, I haven't tried any other resin yet, first cast I ever did it came out close to flawless, I think I could be adding to much water to investment mix, there no where else but my stone holes, like something is getting trapped somehow, I clean the prints very well, my first time investment was kinda clumpy but product came out good, if it's not mixed good enough it don't get in clasp holes for opening and closing the snap clasp, then I have to try to drill out holes but haven't had much luck, drill bits snap being so small then I have to take bit out and melt it back down, just costing a lot making mistakes, one of my biggest hills other then learning rhino

Yes i agree a great resin!, how are your printing settings for phrozen mini 8K 25um please (i want to compaire) I´m useing currently burn in layer @ 12 sec / normal layer @ 5 sec. with light off delay of 9 sec. lift speed 60 to 70 (two stage) after washing the parts are a bit sticky, i did 5 min postcureing at 60 Watt. Does the postcureing did a negative effect on casting results?

Hi Dan. I have quite a bit of experience with centrifugal casting, but I am considering changing to a vacuum cast machine (and getting a melting pot). Here is my question: I only cast small quantities at a time (3-5 rings), normally in gold, but sometimes in silver. I moved overseas and need to buy new tools. I am spit between getting a vacuum caster + melting pot vs. A centrifugal caster and a torch melt. What is your opinion?
@ClearMindJewellery21 күн бұрын
I believe you commented on another video and our opinions about quantity still stand. If you’re only doing small batch casting under five objects having a larger melter, whether it’s 1 kg or bigger doesn’t really make sense. In terms of material usage if you’re using palladium white gold, or other difficult materials, a melter would also not be suitable for those. However, if you see yourself down the road upping your quantity of silver production to 20 or more pieces at a time you might consider future proofing and getting the melting furnace and vacuum but again that depends on where you see your business projections going .

Can’t really quantify into a number but if you’re the type of person whom solders all of their links closed then casting everything in place saves a heap of time.

Question; why didn't you use the Kerr Electro Melt for this casting? I am trying to decide between getting an automatic melting machine or getting a melting torch etc. For context, I will be casting with gold and silver for all my castings
@ClearMindJewellery23 күн бұрын
It’s a quantity thing. Doing two rings isn’t enough to break out the melter in our perspective. We have both the 3kg and 1kg melter, usually used for bronze and sterling silver.
