I'm tempted to go work at rides at Disney do you only work 1 ride or all of them
@DareToElsewhere

Typically just one, sometimes a few in the same area. If you work part time or full time (not the college program), over time you can transfer to work at different rides instead.

Thank you!!🥰 no he wasn’t allowed at the meetings, they were pretty short though, if I remember correctly, like 15 minutes for the first one and I think 30-45 minutes for the second one! Congrats and hope your daughter has a great program!:)

Make a magical moment was always my favorite at the Speedway! And I absolutely loved working fireworks crowd control! Except whenever I had to control guest at the Partners Statue lol. Would wrap up the night and would hang out till park empty and take in the atmosphere on a bench at the hub just listening to the park music!

So you get assigned a job? So before you start your job they assign you like attractions or food? You cant say that you want to work in attractions and they'll give it to you?
@DareToElsewhere
@DareToElsewhere 2 ай бұрын
So if you do the Disney College Program, yes, you get assigned. They sometimes change whether or not you get a say at all, when I applied we got absolutely 0 say in where we wanted to work, but sometimes they let you order all the roles in preference order on the application and sometimes you can try to explain over the phone interview what role you think you’d be really good at and have experience in to try to sway them. But with the DCP, you always have to be open to getting assigned anything regardless of preference. If you just go part time/full time instead meaning no college program, no Disney apartment, just a job (which can be harder to get with no DCP experience but is possible), then you can apply for specifically what job you want to do (but I believeee you have to be open to any park/location? Like you can apply for attractions but not “Haunted Mansion” specifically?)

Hello Paige - former WDW cast member from the seventies here. I was hired as a monorail host in 1974 (back when we actually "piloted" the trains), which is where I stayed during my almost 3 year employment (there was a cross training program in the summer of '76 where I learned to pilot a ferry boat for a couple of weeks). Interesting how things have changed. We got a week of training before they turned us loose. 2 days of orientation before reporting to your location and beginning training. Not nearly as structured as it appears to be now. I've had several different jobs with other companies during my career and I still consider my time as a WDW cast member the best job I ever had for many reasons, not the least of which were the friendships I made way back then that have endured to the present day. Very fond memories of my time there. Thanks for the video.

Question: On my last trip, I saw someone actually in the backdrop of one of the city scenes- I noticed the outline of a human head in the shadows and looked at it for long enough that the person actually waved to me! What do you think that person was doing? I assume it was a CM there for some reason, but I assume they're not supposed to be visible to guests, lol.
@DareToElsewhere
@DareToElsewhere 2 ай бұрын
Could have been George, the resident ghost 😂 If they were on a sort of balcony, it could have been a CM trying to replace one of the boats with one in storage, but if it was somewhere else I honestly have no clue! I would say maintenance, but no one is able to be onstage in the scenes unless the whole entire ride is shut down for safety reasons. Very strange 😂

I worked in Frontierland Attractions at Magic Kingdom from 2017 - 2021 and then went to World Discovery Attractions at Epcot 2021 - Present When we did PAC, when doing take down, we would do our side. Then our Clippers would also clip through Liberty Square, our pluggers would still plug through Liberty Square as well. But our Rollers would leave and then you guys would do the Rolling. Then at the Bridge between Liberty Square and Main Street, all of us would crowd control. Seems like PAC has changed a bit since I last worked there. I know a lot of Cast don't like Merge, but I don't mind it, but also depends because everyone's Merge is different. The only Merge I never cared to work for was Big Thunder Mountain I love Grouper, no matter which Attraction I have ever worked at. It's just so much fun For Tower, all of the Attractions I worked that had Tower, we had monitors. We aren't allowed to wave to guests. The only time we are really allowed to look away from the Monitors are like trying to call a coord, or writing on the CLE's

I was supposed to be attractions during Fall 2020 DCP (which was cancelled), and due to medical reasons, I was most likely going to be living in Flamingo. Because there were supposed to be 5 complexes at that time, Flamingo was a designated MK only building from what I heard, so I was potentially going to be attractions at MK before covid cancelled the program. This video makes me imagine what could have been, as I never ended up doing the DCP after the cancellation:(

Definitely use key words in your resume/application (pulled from the role descriptions- especially the roles you want, and use Disney’s four keys). For your WBI be strong and consistent in your answers (don’t put too many neutrals and don’t say you’re “always” on time but then later say you’re “sometimes” late), and also be yourself on the WBI like don’t try to just get the answers “right” or be perfect, but also be the best interview version of yourself if that makes sense 😂 It really helped me to look up videos on how to pass the WBI and phone interview cause there’s definitely an algorithm to getting in and I think the people that don’t get in just weren’t prepared their first try! Good luck with your application!:)🤞

Former Stands West Food and Beverage CP from 2016 here. I’m honestly so, so jealous hearing about the PAC and Firework shifts (mostly PAC!) I knew a little about the shift back then due to one of my friends also working Pirates of the Caribbean at the time, and my girlfriend at time’s roommate working Splash Mountain. I’m sad that food and bev never got the chance to help out. My homeland was also Adventure and I usually worked Sunshine Tree Terrace or Aloha Isle. Aloha was fun because you could kinda see Festival of Fantasy through the cut through. Wishes (the firework show at the time) was another story. Because we were facing the opposite way that you guys are at POTC, we didn’t have the luxury to watch lol. But it was fun to close Sunshine every night (we closed an hour before the park) with the Wishes soundtrack playing. Even though we couldn’t see the actual fireworks and only could see the lights flashing on the ground. Your video truly makes me want to return one day and try to get into attractions!

I worked attractions at Hollywood Studios. You mentioned that you didn’t know how PAC really worked for Fantasmic and there is actually an answer. So Fantasmic actually has their own group of cast members that are dedicated to PAC. Like they would get assigned there for the day because it’s it’s own theater area. However, on busier days they’d sometimes ask for help when man-power was spread thin. The people who work over at Hyperion Theater/Frozen Sing-a-long are also PAC cast members as they work PAC for the Cavalcades. On busier days at Fantasmic, they’ll get pulled to help out there. Another fun fact is that they actually do PAC at Disneyland much differently! I used to work Food & Bev at Disneyland and I once got pulled to do PAC during the fireworks with zero training. It actually wasn’t that hard, and it was kinda fun to break the monotony of selling burgers all day.
