This is very true. Đà Nẵng is rapidly growing, and I am noticing the population increase as more people learn about this incredible community,. I feel lucky to be welcomed here.

That reminded me of my ex-friend. We drove a car in Finland to an intersection at night. It had no traffic lights. I was more careful than usual because I was very tired. I didn't see any cars. He said "shall we go or wait?"

Of course. In America people would call you stupid for this. In Japan they would help that old lady. In Russia they would jump in front of the car to sue. In Germany people know their lives are worth more than 20 seconds so they wait to be safe, plus they are not in a rush like most middle class Americans who are always in a rush just to make ends meet. Huge differences in education and culture, and people don't pick where they are born, raised, and taught what's most important.

A German pedestrian hit by a car can be sued by the driver for damage to the car. German cyclists arrested for drunkenness can receive points on a driving licence which they do not yet have. I lived in Germany for years, and I have great respect for German people and for Germany.

Explained to me by a German tour guide: “We never cross on a red because we want to teach the children what’s safe. In Germany you can have a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other, just as long as you don’t cross on a red” 😂
