i love the slip stitch effect on the Canberra socks - i've just cast on my second pair but just vanilla ones so far. good to know that it effects the gauge a bit. i am often a bit lazy about gauge swatching but i think i might swatch for the slip stitch pattern.
@MadaboutEwePodcastАй бұрын
I’m going to make another pair that are vanilla I think soon and give that a go. It was such a quick knit! I also never swatch for socks, so maybe I should start 😂

Weird question, how do you knit with the cats around? I have a 4 months old kitten and I can say it’s a challenge 😂 Loved your episode!
@MadaboutEwePodcast3 ай бұрын
How cute, I love kittens. But, I really struggled when they were kittens! I just keep the yarn in a bag close to me so they can’t see it 😂. Occasionally Isaboe does become interested and I put it down for a while while she’s close by or then put it away. But I’d say it’ll be a few more months before it gets easier! I also just used to throw toys their way when I was knitting to distract them.

Yes it was 😂. A palava but I’m glad I recorded. I really do love it! Not wishing away summer but I’ll be keen to wear it!
@lavendercottagefibrearts4 ай бұрын
Ooooh I love how the euphorbia wrap turned out. I must admit I don’t the hype around 9 inch circulars. I tried them but I found them uncomfortable to use and my gauge loosened quite a bit so I had to size down to a 1.75mm needle from my usual 2mm.
@MadaboutEwePodcast4 ай бұрын
I feel like I used to love them (the number of pairs would surely indicate this) but I’m actually not sure it’s faster for me and I may head back to magic loop town for future ones. I haven’t noticed too much of a gauge issue but I do tend to prefer the 2.25 rather than a 2.5mm maybe 🤷🏻♀️. Thanks for watching!

@lavendercottagefibrearts5 ай бұрын
the striping on your socks turned out really well with the heel flap and gusset! it's hardly noticeable that there's a change in the stripe width. i wonder if there would be a way to figure out how it will look depending on number of rows/stripe and stripes/repeat. I've found it sometimes works out well and other times it's super obvious and I'm thinking it probably relates to how many rows each repeat of stripes contains but I think I'm too lazy to try and figure out what the sweet spot would be with my size of socks and tension. i think I prefer the look of the afterthought heel for stripey socks most of the time but I prefer the fit of a heel flap and gusset.
@MadaboutEwePodcast3 ай бұрын
That’s such a great question about if we could figure that out. I’ve done a heel flap and gusset it just now for my latest pair and it hasn’t worked out as well for me 😢. I usually do like the look of short row or afterthought more too ☺️
