That’s because I dropped my collective fully as I climbed. I kept the pull gentle, about half back stick. If you want to talk about my AFM settings, refer to my reply to your comment in the Prairie Fire Huey Showcase video. Why didn’t I barrel-spin and crash? That’s because this isn’t DCS. This video was recorded 4 years ago, long before Prairie Fire. This Huey is a completely different, standalone mod from the workshop. It won’t behave as realistically some of the more refined aircraft that the newer mods would have. The AFM model for this one is very simplified. Hell, if you watch closely, the cockpit gauges don’t even work properly. I recorded this video for fun. My unit started a Vietnam campaign with SFM Hueys. I was just toying with the idea of adding in an AFM Huey as a proof-of-concept showcase for my unit back then.

@@MTWJ Well maybe about 4 years ago, with all parameters disabled, AFM was easier than it is now then.

@@matpocob Yeah probably! I really think that it’s just this mod itself. Everything felt very… simple. You can tell that the cockpit textures are really basic, probably ported form an earlier or different game. The AFM they used here was also very simplified, something similar to "Take on Helicopters", I guess.

I can’t tell if you’re flaming me, or flaming the game. I’m also not sure what you mean about TRQ indicator. You can clearly see the torque gauge moving when the engine is spooling up, and the RPM indicator on the HUD turning from red to amber. I do fly with Advanced Flight Model, with all the AFM options disabled. Let me break it down for you. Here are my settings: Show Gauges → Disabled I prefer flying with the cockpit instruments, because that’s I feel it’s more intuitive (that’s what I do in my flight simulators), and I find the screen gauges ruin the immersion of flying. Rough Landing → Disabled This means that you CANNOT slam your aircraft down on the ground. You HAVE to land gently. This forces me to be smooth and consistent with my landings. Wind Effects → Disabled I disable wind effects because my old unit liked to set stupid high wind settings in their mission making, probably because of the effect it has on smoke. It’s impossible to fly if you have AFM enabled. I find it easier to just leave it off all the time. Auto Trim → Disabled This means that the game will not "stabilise" the helicopter for you. You have to hold maintain constant inputs in all stages of flight. I find this better for my muscle memory, especially when crossing over to simulators like DCS. Stress Damage → Disabled Again, this is because of the mods my unit uses. We fly with a very wide variety of helicopter mods, and some have wildly inconsistent damage models. You can lose your main/tail rotor when a ground guy bumps into your hull. You can explode when sling-loading something as light as an ammo crate. I also find it easier to just leave it off all the time. Everyone has their own personal preference. Just because they don’t match up with your standards, it doesn’t mean that they’re terrible pilots. One of the best pilots I know flies with a laptop trackpad. Who are we to judge?
