You would be better off buying a vintage Johnson or Merc engine. that engine already does not run well and it is brand new just imagine how it will run when it is 5 or 8 years old... If it runs at all. I just realized how old this video is you should do an update.

it's been 4 years or so since I had this motor. if u r looking for a small cheap outboard I would look for a Tanaka or Gamefisher from the 80's or 90's. but like all things from China these engines are hit or miss.

maxum3300 I'll get one soon. Just moved to FL. Main thing is u need weight up front and keep the pump handy if the temp drops 20 degrees or more. The floor is a big help in it.

Did you ever post a video of this boat on the water with a motor on it? I have the same boat only in Grey and the motor mount looks like it's too high off the water for a short shaft 15" shaft outboard.

I disagree with the way the word NOT is used here. It's like you're saying the 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang isn't a Mustang at all. Now I'm not saying it's just ANY old Mustang. It's the GOD damn Shelby GT500 baby! Personal 3rd favorite Mustang right after the 69 Boss 302. The only reason they aren't higher is that the 1964 ragtop convertible has sentimental value having been in my family for 3 generations and soon to be 4.

Nicholas Christophorou Honestly I had it out for 2 river runs years ago but I ended selling the jon boat and motor together. It was not bad when it ran right. but I wouldnt leave shore with out a radio or something.

I have one of these little motors and it seems to be fine, when i brought it i understood that its strait from the factory not from a main dealer that would normal PDI them for you. they are cheep, if i was to put an equation on them i would say you could compare them as a standard Dacia Duster, but even these get PDI checked. anyways to a standard Mercedes or BMW, you would see a quality difference. obviously there is a massive price difference. so i guess you get what you pay for. i think they are a good little buy if you know how outboard motors work, if you can PDI them yourself as this is another reason they are cheep then i think you will be fine. but if you don't know your way around an outboard motor then i would stay away, unless you have someone who could do this for you. i do feel for all you guys as we do this for fun not fury. the things you need to do are plug gap, air/mixture screw and idle control whilst running in a bin.

I purchased one of these (2hp). At first it concerned me that no water appeared to be being pumped. I got the engineering drawings from the seller. The waterpump impeller is fixed to the prop shaft. So, when idling the waterpump is not pumping because of the centripetal clutch, it only pumps when the propeller is moving. SO, can't flush it while idling in a bucket, but other than that, seems to be a good purchase.

I bought one of these in July 2014, first time out it over heats and stops. I only bought it for the tender to go 300m from shore to the mooring. Never had so many problems with something brand new. The whole experience has been been rotten, they say we stand behind the product. Thats not true once you have bought it you are on your own. They even sent me an impeller in the first week for ME to change on a brand new motor. Had no choice had to change it because you have no store to take it back to. Did not fix the problem. STAY AWAY FROM THESE MOTORS THEY ARE JUST CRAP. Bought a 1990 overhauled Evinrude 2hp purrs like a cat, starts first go. Buyer be very very aware.

Man this engine is watercooled it can't overheat. Did you run it through the break'in process?? Did you remember to put oil in the gear box?? Did you check if the impeller is pumping water?? Impeller is most common fail in all engines.. and the cheapest to replace.. I think you can get impeller for like 1 dollar on eBay.

Sounds like all over the internet there's mixed reviews on this brand. I have the 3.5 and it would do like a "hiccup" or choking at times. I switched the spark plug out with an Autolite 2974 (I did write this on another KZfaq vid) and I haven't gotten that hiccup since" I guess others have switched the oil fuel mix to 30:1. So far I like this lil loud thing and I'll post any updates if I have any problems. Also when the motor is warmed up and I'm cruising down the bay I had better luck leaving the choke between on and off.

The engine block is air cooled so to speak...but the exaust is and lower unit are water cooled...when the lower unit is in water it stays cooler and keeps lower unit cooler and keeps lower unit oil seal that is located behind propeller cool...when running out or water the seal is heated up and dries out a little and when water is reapplied it rexpands and this causes it to dry rot and sooner or later the lower unit will leak oil and take in water and lower unit will fail and no more aqua bug
