I personally like mine to not stick every time it sticks you exert a little more energy and that energy adds up quick. Just my 2 cents everyone has an opinion thats just mine.

How have you found the garberg leather sheath over time? Has it held up ok? Any issues? I'm thinking of upgrading the plastic sheath, then i've got whichever is most appropriate in whichever situation. I've got the retention on the plastic sheath fairly solid now after hairdryering the sheath on the edge and standing on it, but the flap seems a lot more dependable.

I love the Ranger range, fantastic for Bushcrafting. I had the original Wenger version, but as soon as Victorinox brought out the Delemont range and the Ranger Wood 55 with Victorinox tin opener and awl I bought one and gave my Wenger one to my best mate. Love it, but I do have a struggle over whether I take my Outrider (wish they did walnut scales for the Outrider!) or the 55!

I love my UCO Flatpack (have had it for five years); it makes my firewood last so much longer than an open fire. I also use the UCO candle lantern, which allows my pupils to adjust to the dark the way a bright light doesn’t. Sitting by a fire in the woods by one’s self, contemplating life, away from Suburbia, is, for me, a sanity check. I feel a kindred spirit with you. I will be 70 soon, and I still get out two or three nights a month in a local state forest, where I hike in, and sit by a fire like you. Be safe, my friend, and enjoy the forest!

i'd say that also depends on your experience in the outdoors. the less experience you have the better the saw gets because the risk of injury is lower and the injuries you can receive tend to be less dramatic. Where as a axe is a wonderful tool for more schooled people but if you F' it up you can get screwed real quick...

How long is your saw blade? I have an 8" blade, and I find it to be too small.

It always pisses me off when I see the price of knives like this in the us vs Canada. I know there’s a difference in exchange rate but it’s even more than that. This is like 100 dollar knife in Canada, sometimes you can get it on sale for like 80 bucks depending on where you look. I’ve seen a lot of videos of people in the US getting this knife for less than 50 bucks. I wish we had prices like that here in Canada

1 thing this guy didnt mention is that the front strap that hold the lid can fit a rolled up sleeping pad if you adjust it to max lenght. To gold the pad vertical. Nice if you are the one carrying for the family.

Nice review, over all I think the Fallkniven's are over rated as they try to say they are special but they just copied American style knives. I own a Garberg, but am thinking of getting an F1 as I like the drop point, flat grind hunter style. I am thinking of the F1 as a lighter hiking knife.
