crazy to see this mall in its prime. im from corpus, and was born way after the 80s, so i never got to see this place while it still had some life to it. last time i went there were only a few store left open. it was sorta eery yet cool
@purplelizard24606 ай бұрын
I grew up in Corpus, always came to this mall as a kid due to the dollar theater that was attached to it. It used to be such a colorful place but almost nobody was ever there, half the building was shut off and only a handful of shops remained. I still get so sad whenever I see urban explorer videos/pictures of the mall. Everything is destroyed and flooded now.
@jimtheedcguy43133 ай бұрын
Same, I miss the dollar cinema and the cool food court. If you go to Bel furniture, it has some of the old decorations from the mall's nautical theme! I remember always going in there to look at the model trains upstairs.
@purplelizard24603 ай бұрын
@@jimtheedcguy4313 I loved the pirate ship (I think that was part of the food court? Correct me if I’m wrong, I was literally seven years old lol) where you could sit down and eat. Though when my dumb friends decided to sneak in there a year or so ago, they told me the mermaid at the front of the ship had been decapitated :( They couldn’t find her head anywhere either.
@jimtheedcguy43133 ай бұрын
@@purplelizard2460 yes! It was set up as a ship, and in Bel, which used to be Wilcox, which was Montgomery Ward, there was a ships helm at the top of the center staircase. I think it might still be there. But I grew up at Padre Staples mall since my dad worked at Smiths Guns for 11 years, therefore, family day we'd always go to sunrise since my parents didn't want to go where my dad worked all the time lol. I still remember Academy was where Cavenders is now, and Conns used to be an Albertsons! Do you remember seeing the Delta Tire commercials on TV??? "Donde es a compro con mucho gusto!"

@@PungiFungi Well, it could be a stuntwoman, A big shouldered, stocky, burly stuntwoman with "man hands". They do exist, and have existed, I presume. We'd have to find the "making of" and the credits to get to the bottom of this all encompassing and pervasive mystery.

Dude, she was such a tragic character. She trusted James, felt like he could have taken her away from it all. Got betrayed by her employer, got mauled by the fuckers dogs, and James or anyone didn’t even know what happened to her. She died alone and scared. If she was a real person, in an afterlife that is real, I would have told her it’s ok, her suffering is some, and there is a paradise ahead of her. Man the effect movies and wrong t and story telling has on a person… this acne gets me all the time

I went to the grand opening of Sunrise Mall on a field trip from Montclair Elementary back in the day. It was such a big deal it was on the news and everyone was so proud and happy to finally have a cool mall. It's fun to watch this scene because its abandoned now it's such a shame! Hard to believe this mall Sunrise Mall is gone and it goes to show you all the good and innocent times are gone too and there is nothing left. This mall and every mall is dying all across the US and its b/c of the damn internet. Kids today dont' even know how good we have it in the 80s and life was simple and fun back then and you could do what you want and say what you want nobody cared. I really miss the 80s and 90s and now everything is hell and people don't know anything. They super suck now. I miss the 80s and 90s and people were singing and dancing and you can't do that now.

A great, but very out of place scene in Moonraker. We're at the point now where the Bond films are basically at their peak in terms of cheese and light, goofy fun, and this scene seems like it would fit better in FYEO or even License To Kill, not a borderline sci-fi self-parody.
