I love this, Elena! Inspired by you, I’ve begun to practice playing the piano, (electric piano). I can play Desperado, Rose, Let it be, though only chords for singing. I found that I need much more practice on singing than piano play! Now I practice Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. I enjoy it! It's fun! Thank you!

It lifts my spirits to know that not all young people are going 'woooba woooba woooba' or whatever those fools are saying when they talk to a beat ( sounds like 6th -grade dropouts) great playing.

I felt like getting up and dancing a jig! Sounded sweet! But, I was always curious? Why do some musicians decide to play in either Flats or sharps, when they could play the natural chord instead? Or was there words to this song before?
@lenarein7008 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Art D! Glad you liked it! Good question, maybe she felt it sounded better in this particular key. I can't think of another reason really, as I'm sure Emily was comfortable playing any key. I don't think there are lyrics to this tune, or at least I don't know of any.

I'm glad to see someone actually play melodically instead of playing rapidly fast non melodic licks. Great job young lady.

About your impovizing . _This is one of themost difficult tunes ,,so you have to study on it for enought time to ''master '' it . After you will be ready for almost anything ! So mind that the dominant chords leading to several keys here give the best place for making phrases ...So you can start with an A HM5 (harmonick minor5 scale) or A altered (A surer locrian ) -then cover the Cm7 to F9 with the basic F mixolydian -orafter some experiance F altered/ then the Fm7 Bb7 Ebmaj7 with Bb mixolydian / Then above the Ab7 use a Ab dominant overtone / etc... If you do not know the scales above spent some time on them ...Above each Dominant 7 chord learn to play 1. the mixolydian scale 2.the arpegio of this dominant chord making it with 9 also ...This is 1-3-b7-9 ..... pe . G dominant play G B D F A ... 3. Learn the altered dominat scale also called super locrian ...pe G altered scale = G Ab Bb B Db Eb F G . Usually is leading to Cmaj7 or can be to C7 then to F7 etc -Cycle of 5ths... This altered or superlocrian scale contains all the alteration notes of a dominant chord which are the b5 #5 b9 #9 ...This is a scale with a very ''jazz'' sound and you play it overthe 2-5 - (Is better to think only 5 as JOE PASS said once ...!) and then you lead yourphrase inside the tonality overthe 1 ...(2-5-1 progression ) Forthis learn the arpegio of maj 7 chords ... Of cource all the above will take at least 2 months of focused study ... Scales ,arpegios , inside the tonality then the altered scale ,the overtone scale and the HM5 scale to play overthe dominants ! GOOD LUCK . ( Iam writing all these because you remind me myself when I was starting ! in 1978!). You may listen how I play this tune here ( on 14 ' ) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q8yaq8h8mJyYh5s.html

Hi Jazzmanick, thanks so much for your elaborate feedback. I really appreciate it and take it as a compliment that my playing reminds you of an earlier version of yourself. Yes, it’s not an easy song and there is so much to learn still. Thanks for the very useful advice. I’ll check it out. Lovely playing of yours by the way. Really like your bluesy approach to a bebop context. All the best!

Very Nice! You are well ahead of me and at an earlier age. You will be a great player. Keep it up.
Thank you Eric! I transcribed the beginning of this recording by Emily: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zql8gcVhy8zVYZs.html It's actually a blues by Wes called D Natural Blues, but Emily plays it in Bb. I don't have any tabs or scores unfortunately.
