I think, my accent just sounds like non-native speaker and it frustrates me since I think about it a lot before speaking.

I had not been working in my garden I had been studyind new ways to invest in my money They had been playing in the yard when it started to rain We had been visiting our aunt in Canada when we lost our luggage in the airport Quiz: 1. We´d been waiting for the bus for an hour when finally the bus arrived 2. He´d been working at the supermarket for a long time when one day he became the manager 3. They´d been spending the afternoon cooking, but later, the dinner guests cancelled

I am ethnic Asian have near- native fluency in terms of English grammar, vocabulary, and slang. I have very Brit humour and sarcasm. I grew up watching and listening to BBC, and even speak English at home with family too. English is practically my first language, really, I have very limited fluency in the Asian dialects of my forefathers. But here’s the irony……I did spend a number of my formative years in a few Asian countries which resulted me in having a very mixed up accent with some Asian intonations. And this makes me severely misunderstood to be a speaker of other languages….while there is nothing wrong with that, it is really not who I am as I actually speak English 99% of the time, just with a not-so-native accent. Wish I could find a way to solve this issue although I am past 35. I don’t even mind if I can’t change it permanently but at least have the skill of code switching when needed. (ironically, I do not have this problem when singing English songs and could even pass off as white or even black while doing so…lol. )

All kinds of wrong here. Saying Et cetera with the T sounds very uneducated. Almond only skips the L in the British version.
