Steve came along at the right time. Many of he game's best players were getting old, & most of them were probably in two minds about whether or not they should work at their game like they did when they were younger. Steve virtually took over the sport, & it happened very quickly.

Look at Len Ganley's (ref) standing position a head of the table. Just ready to collect the balls out of the pockets quickly. This is how Ronnie was able to do the 147 so fast. Brilliant refereeing!

Almost every 147 has a couple of iffy shots or recoveries. This one literally was perfect but even then he needed a couple of good nudges through reds to get "lucky" I dont know if theres ever been a 147 where you never have to develop some reds and thus rely on at least a few good kisses and rolls to stay onto the black either into the middle or corner pockets. This frame is what you would see when Ronnie plays exhibitions and hes relaxed and can miss anyway. totally perfect, perfection and precision as much as possible and Steve David, Hendry and the rest cant quite do this or not at all. He really is for a whole game and break building in another level and proves it with his stats way above next best Hendry.

The reason this snooker has older players competing rather than other sports is you just stand there and there's 0 physicality

Hendry, in my opinion, is the greatest. Sure Ronnie can play well but when it comes down to titles and time at No.1 matched with such a nice bloke.

The reason he's wearing the hard hat is because in rehearsals for this video, he dropped the £10 note, and it hit him on the back of the head 😂

Its why stephen hendry was best ever Hendry showing he can do what ronny can do today back then If both players played each other at there best, hendry would win. Hendry just lost interest this century, if he was offered as much money as ronny osullivan was to stay in snooker he would of kept playing. Ronny today is paid fortunes just to stay playing, if hendry was offered that inducement back at turn of the century to keep playing you can be sure he would. Hendry just lost his motivation

Ronnie played prime Hendry and in an era of snooker much greater. Just one reason of many that he's the greatest that's ever lived.

Ronnie is by far the best player in all aspects of the game, it's just that he's the most aggressive players so he takes the most risks. He doesn't need to play safely as most of the other players do because he pulls off a higher average of risky shots than the rest. He's the best long potter there ever has been, the best break builder by far which means he's the most accurate player. And he's the best temperamental player under pressure having won the most tournaments. And not only that he's pulled out of a good few tournaments and is still way out in front. When he does look shaky against the likes of Hendry, Higgins, Selby, Trump, Robertson and Davis, people tend to remember this more than the times he flogs their behinds because all the attention is on him most of the time. Bui how quickly they forget when he flogs them all which he has done regularly.

Not enough credit given to Len Ganley here for helping with the fast time. He just stands in one spot to quickly get the black. These days, the refs insist on walking all around the table after every shot.
