Completely unfair race as you have a six cylinder turbocharged Volvo vs a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder car - what’s impressive is that the 944 has the same 0-60 time as a six cylinder turbocharged car with only four cylinders that to me is impressive !!! The Germans do it so much better than the rest of the world Porsche……..There is NO substitute

That's actually not bad for an n/a diesel. I expected it to be alot slower. I've seen n/a diesel acceleration times that were painfully slow, like in a w123, but this is pretty decent for an n/a.

I suppose it's still nearly 140bhp, even without a turbo, which isn't embarrassingly low. I'd love to try one of the big turbo OM606s.

I'm in the north west. It does sound good, a nice tone without being too loud. It sounds good inside but even with the windows down you don't quite get to hear the exhaust note.

2014 XFR in Polaris white here as a daily 🙃 'tis my midlife crisis car until all the electric rubbish takes over. Also Spires stage 2 on mine but i'd really like an X pipe eventually to get that european raspy sound, well as much as is possible from a big cross-plane V8.

@@RunninWithScissorsI wish I could afford to daily mine 😢. I have a 2002 Zafira diesel for a daily which makes me appreciate the Jag even more when I do use it. Mines currently in Tom Lenthall for a new timing chain and tensioner. 💷😏

I believe that the real D818 Glory resided at Swindon works for a few years after withdrawal in BR green and small yellow panel, all painted by the apprentices. Rumour is that it was cut up at the order of the Works Manager after learning of BR's proposal to close Swindon Works completely.

This is a 12 mile stretch of railway that was closed in 1980 and then reopened as a heritage railway with preserved vintage roller stock and locomotives. Well worth a visit.

I'm off to Spires bright and early Thursday morning to get mine done. Mines a 14 plate so no pops and crackles until i get Viezu to map it.

Mate, the pops and crackles will come as standard as soon as you replace the OEM exhaust and silencers, no remap needed. My XFR came with the Spires exhaust fitted when I bought it in January. I'd test driven one with straight pipes which was insanely loud (see my other videos) and one with a stock exhaust setup which sounded too muted. To me, the Spires Stage 2 is the best mix of daily useability whilst unleashing some proper V8 sound and drama when you're in the mood.

@@superbracey Yes. So much better, everyone turns around now to see where the noise is coming from 😆 No pops and crackles though, think it was mapped out somewhere between 2013 and 2014 for emissions regs. It'll be a trip to Viezu when I have the cash. Few other things to sort first like gearbox service, diff fluid and sort the annoying jangling noise which I think is a stone shield loose.

@@RunninWithScissors I didn't know that about the pops and crackles being mapped out. I suppose you get the benefits of the 8 speed ZF and slightly better economy. Mines the last of the 6 speeds.
