There’s that smug smile at first and then a maddened grin… It’s just perfect! You also worked so hard on drawing all those patterns for his hanfu and it pays off so so well. And PS: I am _obsessed_ with the level of emotion in 1:08… The insanity and regret are shown _so well_ in his clawed hands and his shadowed face!!!!). 0:54 being a reference to Chu Wanning teaching Mo Ran how to write _with the lyrics “As a result of forgetting”_ has me screaming-esPECIALLY SINCE IT’S FOLLOWED BY ADORABLE BABY MO RAN’S ADORING FACE STANDING BEFORE CHU WANNING AT 0:54???? ;o; Plus the shots of CWN at like 1:00, 1:01, 1:06, and 1:07 (AND THE FACT THE 1:07 ONE IS HIM DEAD AND IT SAYS “As a result of dying”? Your colouring and shading is always just //chef’s kiss!!! Mo Ran’s favourite food under the haitang tree at 1:12 and then him waking at 1:13?? It feels like a really good quick capture of his death as Taxian-jun… You did it so fast but so well! The reference to the chapter with the spiritual golden haitang flowers and the red butterflies at 1:15 is also just _absolutely_ phenomenal… I love how they gather as the next shot “loads” the same way they gathered in the chapter itself! ♥ Also the shot of Shi Mei’s whole deal at 1:22 is so so good,,, I love the way you contrast that in the next sentence-where I assume it’s Chu Wanning with his back turned-it’s such good symbolism,,, plus your design for Shi Mei is just too cute!! Then the contrast between Mo Ran crying over Shi Mei at 1:25 and then injured Chu Wanning at 1:26?? Absolutely delicious thanks for the pain. ;w; Mo Ran’s expressions at both 1:27 and 1:25 are also just soooooo well-done,,, really evocative of his feelings. It makes Chu Wanning’s reaction at 1:28 hit even harder, and his face is also really perfectly expressive gahhh 😭 Oh and 1:29 is so cute my heart… qwq AND THE ANIMATED FLAME IN THE SOUL-CALLING LANTERN AT 1:31? MATCHED WITH THE LYRICS?? AND NOW IN COLOUR??? It’s such a perfect moment, especially since you linger on it _with_ those lyrics after the faster editing before! “But you see, that’s not correct/Because you have chosen and/As a result, it’s ironic how you’re here/But shunned like you were a ghost” are such good Chu Wanning lines… And then “But you see, that’s just fine/Don’t gloss over it and say that’s terrible/Because, I and myself, we’re all ghosts” feels like Mo Ran trying to reassure Chu Wanning at that time,,, And then “Very selfish ghosts” feels like such a good reference to how Mo Ran feels so guilty over his previous treatment of Chu Wanning and he feels like he doesn’t deserve Chu Wanning anymore but still doesn’t want to give him up 🥹 AND THE CHANGE IN TONE AT 1:47 WHERE “therefore?” FEELS LIKE CHU WANNING IS ASKING MO RAN WHAT HE MEANS… BECAUSE IT’S THE CONFESSION SCENE AND HE CAN’T BELIEVE MO RAN WOULD CARE SO DEEPLY ABOUT HIM-ESPECIALLY TO THE POINT OF LOVE…BUT WE SEE MO RAN’S VERY _VERY_ LOVING SMILE WITH AN ANSWERING “Therefore!” IMMEDIATELY AFTER AT 1:49??? _HNNNNNGH BE STILL MY HEART THEY ARE SO SOFT!!!_
