She is out now and her brood is broken. When she was broody I would let her run around in my isolation yard every day and put her back into the cage at night. This let her eat and drink well and get exercise while still not allowing her in her nest. She was very hormonal so it took three weeks of this for her to stop being broody!

I knew peanut was a good mom because when she hatched silkies two years ago, the first one to hatch hatched a day early and then fell out of the nest, so she abandoned all the rest of her eggs so she could take care of and feed the one chick that fell. She didn’t know if the other eggs would hatch, so she saved the chick, luckily I found them and managed to give her eggs back before they died and they all hatched 12 hours later! Rip silkies.

I don’t think a raw ice pack would necessarily hurt them, but they are my pets so why risk it.

@@JosephsDesign it would their skin is sensitive, and its especially bad when they're broody because they peck their feathers to warm the eggs better

lol, I literally did that two days ago in my latest video. She wasn’t very happy, if it didn’t come from an egg under her she wanted it gone!

And i have also Hens but there was a Fox and 4 Hens died😭 And the Fox is scared now cuz there are Dogs Im really sad for the 4 Hens who died they didnt deserve this🤧

I’m so sorry to hear about your hens, how did the fox get into your run or your coop? The fox SHOULD be scared, if it were I, I would turn that fox into a fashionable coat 🧥! The chicks are from a hatchery, and my hens didn’t want them so they are mine now. Chicks raised by hand become much friendlier adult hens.

She’s a pet chicken who had gone broody due to hormones, I don’t give and take things from her to be cruel, I do it because it’s cute and not everyone finds it cute. Last year when I recorded this, I was unable to get her chicks, and this was like her fourth time that year being broody. As a chicken keeper, I need to take care of the birds, and that means doing maintenance like collecting the eggs from all nests daily and throwing her out of the nest so she will actually eat.

I have heard of that. I wanted to, but at night my hens could still be aggressive and then I couldn’t keep an eye on them to make sure the chicks are safe. My coop is too bright inside at night from passive lights outside, so the hens could easily abandon or kill the chicks which would be a disaster. I gave it 6 hours, and after that I had enough.

Hello. The green spots on their heads are paint from the hatchery to tell the difference between breeds. Some hens will accept young chicks. Others just don’t sadly.

Ooh, I’ll edit it tonight likely, and then it will schedule to release next morning my time. That means it will release in less than 10 hours! (Assuming I edit it, and don’t feel too tired because I edit videos before I sleep)

Also some more information. A 60 second short usually requires me to record about 30 minutes of raw footage, and then it takes me about another hour to edit down all that footage, voiceover, add subtitles and other text, and finally upload it across KZfaq TikTok and Instagram. So videos for me are a bit slow 😂

I have a few rubber eggs in the fridge, but I think my other hens give her a lot of rubber eggs already 😂 every now and then I’ll find her covered in egg when a rubber egg bursts under her in the nest.
