How time flies - watched this review when it came out 14 years ago, and bought both the bass envelope filter and the carbon copy delay as a result. Already had the MXR bass octave as a result of Ed’s previous review of it. Have enjoyed this pedal trio to bits and all three are still on my pedal board! Thank you Ed for all the amazing reviews and over all inspiration over the years, you’re really one of the best.👍✨

This Is the best managing e string ... without distortion tight sound. At home Is very nonsense playing more for of light cabs. The gr head has top defined sound with effective undistorted regulations. The Cab sound Is pretty tight...if you like warm sound Is not for you. Perfect for slapping.

That's the nicest looking non-Fender headstock I've seen on a non-Fender. Cool basses. I've wanted a Jazz Bass with a 3rd pickup by the neck for some time. I think a J-Bass with a proper neck pickup would sound righteous, and 3-pickup bass would be fun. Has anyone out there done such a modification?

You did a great job saming them. Proof they can sound alike. Great review. I have both and think they are really different at their best voicings.

I always liked GB product. Quality builds (IMO) and they always sound great, which is just a BIT important 😅

Just leaving this here, as everyone seems to sing LaBella's praises. In my experience they are wildly inconsistent, and in a pack there is always something funky (even though my sample size is fairly small). I'm saying this for both bass and guitar strings. A strange untraceable buzz, one string that's much more quiet than the rest, a string with peculiar length compared to the others, etc. I tried 3 packs in total, will stick to other manufacturers. They seem as if there ways much handwork included in making them, but the manufacturer didn't really care too much.

Excellent video. I bought a Tribute when it arrived it had scratches over the entire back and sides. It should have never left the factory. But the playability and sound were excellent. I sent it back and now have the opportunity to go for either the American or the Tribute. Sounds like you are not feeling / hearing a lot of difference in the two, is the American version worth the high price? Please let me know, really need help deciding. Thanks!

I switched from Elixir to Labella deep talking bass. They sound a little brighter than the low tension strings. My Fender pj bass with maple fretboard was just a little too bright. The Labellas solved that problem.

Thanks, Ed! Super cool. A while back, I ordered a G&L CLF research L-1000; asked for set up with light tension flats, they were out of stock, so, went to your site, found a mention of LaBella 760… flats; enjoying having this P-flat zone member in the family! Thanks again! (Been recording lots of 1910 German double bass, I don’t gig with, now need baby bass, ouch! Lol)…
