The locomotive is called a Drury diesel. Came into service just after the steam ones in the 60s. Apparently there are many of them preserved and still in running condition. Good find.

Look below that barrel and you will see what it is for. Its a counter balance weight for a flood gate. You cant walk through there now for 5 months as the council is doing major flood management work. The entire road is blocked off.

Thanks for the shout out Brad. Thats my preferred walk into town route, its a beautiful location. In the 4 months that i have lived here i have never seen anyone in the bush tucker / Anzac part, its like a hidden lost jungle and much better when dry because of the mossies as you found. The path winds all the way around the back section where Norms track is and connects to the Warrina lakes section and is a awesome ride on my e bike. Needs some maintenance but most of the time i have the place to myself. In my opinion this is the best and most underated and under utilised part of Innisfail. Thats why i decided to buy my house in Cullinane after having a good look around town. Your videos helped me out a lot in my early research days navigating around.

That barrel had me stumped as to what it is when i first moved here. I thought that it had to do something with the rowing club but one day after a big night of rain i noticed that it had moved and the mystery was solved. Its a counter weight for the huge steel floodgates down below in front of it. The barrel was down and the gates were open letting out heaps of water. Similar to the drainage system at Warrina lakes.

Another great video Brad, the vegetation and greenery here is simply stunning. The novelty of moving here from Melbourne i think will never wear off. Hey if you follow that walking / bike path does it go to the Bruce hwy and is it safe to ride my e bike all the way to Mourilyan harbour from there?. Basically i am trying to work out how to safely get to the closest beach from Innisfail. I have watched your walking video to Flying fish point but there is not much of a roadside verge and it looks a bit dangerous and the road to coquette point goes up some serious hills and i am unsure about the road to the Coconuts as well. Or should i just get the bus from town to Flying fish point?. Oh it appears that the rotunda in Anzac park is open again so you might want to record what the council has done before it gets trashed again. Keep up the good work mate.

When i first moved here almost 4 months ago i was walking around with my Nikon DSLR taking photos and video as you do and was also being stalked by very dodgy people. I wasnt sure if they were just sussing out the new bloke in town or thinking about rolling me. It got to the stage where i stopped, stared back and said, what the f-ck are you looking at, can i help you mate?. They know to stay away from me now but ive put the Nikon away when out and about and my brand new DJI pocket 2 never got out of its box so i just use my phone camera now. These so called people watch you and learn your habits and routes so now i always walk home a different way from where i started and continually watch my back. Im still yet to see a police foot patrol in town or in Anzac park where it is really needed. Love your work mate, be careful.

@@bestestimesreborn It is sad and probably very scary for the older people living here . Theft and public drunkeness is out of control , something that would be sorted out quicksmart where i come from. That behaviour dosnt scare me, i have brought my Melbourne attitude and war face with me and god help any one that steals from me or attempts to break into my house. I will take care of business then maybe call the police. I love it here mate, coming from Melbourne its paradise and has so much potential. Sadly that will never happen if things stay the way they are. I sent you a PM on Facebook about some general questions and a update on Anzac park, some stuff that i will not mention here but your privacy settings wouldnt allow it which i fully understand. Innisfail is a beautiful town, its a shame that a certain element is allowed to run a muck. And this is not my first rodeo in FNQ, ive seen a lot of this country but living here is like stepping way back in time. The local po po need to grow some balls.

Air Conditioning is a must. The humidity is high here and still drives me crazy. A Good Umbrella helps with the rain. Harvest the water in a tank for gardens and grass if possible. Up here it's either hot or hot. Hot and dry or hot and wet. Or just right often in winter.
